Just a quick heads up Lorna,

I'v been told today by an estate agent in Torrevieja that solicitors and companies who  obtain an NIE for clients book multiple appointments for each day so that will be the reason we have a few weeks lead in.

Regards.

Oh ok, so if you book through a company (which isn't cheap) you can get an appointment the same day then

seems strange when they check the persons name against the appointment made and booking reference when you get there...then again i only use Playa Flamenca so each office can be different. Seems a bit cheeky to me to hog appointment times in that way though...

I thought it was only RIP of BRITAIN. The cost of the NIE is approximately 10€ one estate agent who highly recommended her solicitors after buying a property was going to charge the following

Legal fees                                             1,295€

Notary fees + Land Regsitry fees.        1,000€

 NIE Service                                            145€

 Power of Attorney.                                 190€

 Land Registry check.                               50€

 Private contract                                     240€

 Bankers Draft.                                       150€

Travel expenses                                    100€

Changing of utilities and council tax

into new owners names.                       300€

 After completion

admin of Title Deed.                           . 150€

 Spanish Will                                        180€

It seems to me anywhere the Brits go someone is there to rip you off!!!

Hi to all,

I am arriving Spain late on 12th June. I have downloaded and completed the EX-15. I would like to obtain the NIE number without the costly assistance of a solicitor etc. My questions are: can I go to the police station in San Miguel to start the process, do I need to make an appointment, I will b...

...e staying in a hotel whilst I finalise my apartment purchase, will this be satisfactory.  Some companies state they can obtain the NIE in a few hours at an extortionate cost. Can I do the same, (obtain in a few hours at minimum cost)? Do I need to go to the town hall, if anyone has recently been through the process, can you give me the heads up and pitfalls.

Regards to all

TomB.

Hi there

I have just done my NIE and my partners NIE.

Presumably you have completed EX15 and taken necessary copies of form, passport etc. Earlier this year things changed in relation to getting your Appointment which you must have. You will need to go online to make appointment and put in the appropriate area where you live, it will give you options of dates and times. Once apt made you will need to take all paperwork to your apt. You MUST have everything in order and correctly filled in otherwise they will send you away and you will have to start over. Iv all correct they will give you a date to come back for NIE. I did ours at Townhall in playa flamenca cos I live in this area. Hope this helps

Hello

This is a great forum, and as a lurking noob, I have learnt lots from it already.

I wonder if anyone can help. I have don’t have my Nie certificate and want to apply for replacements. When I go online to book the appointment, there is a drop down menu that you have to choose from. I don’t know which type of appointment to choose, there are 2 options that seem to fit:  ‘asignación de nie’ or ‘certificados ue’

I don’t want a new number, just a new certificate  (or more than one)

Also, jumping to a different topic, when I apply for residencia for myself and my 14 year old daughter, do I have to make 2 separate appointments for the pair of us, or will one appointment cover both of us?

Mel
