Hi without knowing your pros & cons,
About Sax: I love it & know many Spanish friends & families. 20Yrs ago there were about 12 UK families & now about 300-400 families incl. Brits, Dutch German etc. There are numerous bars/ restaurants mainly Spanish- Some ex-pats congregates in 2 or 3 bars, but many find their own haunts & integrate with the locals, who are very friendly, laid-back small town feel. The town is surrounded by 3 main mountains, with the motorway a little away giving easy access to Alicante/airport 30-35 mins away & the coast. 1 hour to Benidorm. Under 2 hours to Valencia. High Speed train (AVE) 10 mins away to Madrid less than two hours. Good market day (Monday). The local Sax fiesta (Moors & Christians for 5 days) in February. Winter can be cold but often quite warm until xmas. The coldest months Feb/March. You will need some sort of heating. I always relied on Air-con (hot & cold).
In 20 years here, I have experienced snow on 3 occasions. & the pool once covered in ice.
.Unlike many in the UK, there are many thriving shops without having to leave the town, but three large towns Petrel/Elda/Villena (10 mins drive away) Main Hospital in Elda 10 mins away.
Central doctor´s medical centre in town. One can almost walk everywhere in town on foot, (& as many Spanish say, “walk in 10 minutes & car-drive it in 20!).
I can explain more, feel free to ask.
