Hi. My place & others up for sale. I agree with most of the comments. I have been here for the best part of two decades. More brits here than ever. 12 families in 2000 ( registered) now more than 400. Same. Private msg for details. There are some nice private sale properties about, town & country (avoiding estate agent fees) only too pleased to converse or advise) send email details. V.

Hi, it seems everyone seems to be leaving the area. Are you? And if so why? Thanks.

Hi all, i'm brand new to your forum so hello and thanks for letting me on. A couple of questions; how many Brits live in and around Sax? and also are there decent public transport links to Alicante. Bit random i know, we are thinking of moving over. Many thanks.

There is now a good train service about 8~9 trains daily takes 30 minutes to Alicante but it also stops in Elda. Buses are also good but takes an hour to ali

Yes, I am trying to leave but cannot sell my property. To cut a long story short I have been offered less for it now than we paid for it 10 years ago. The house is now nearlly twice the size it was then. I cannot afford to give it away.

If you come here and buy you will be trapped, which is fine if you plan on staying for ever. I do not enjoy the Spanish burocracy, everything is long winded and needs rubber stamps all over. My definition of NIE is 'nothing is easy'.
It has just taken me nearly 9 months to swop my UK car plates to Spanish. In the UK I could do it inside a week. If you get yourself into the Spanish system it all becomes a nightmare.I honestly believe that if Spain did not have sunshine, no one would come. Yes, I would like to go home to civilisation. It is just so third world here.

We live in Sax and have had  great time for 13 years here. There are train and bus services. It is a lovely Spanish Town with  community of ex pats living here happily.

Our own one off design beautiful house is for sale due sadly to our ill health. If you would like details please make contact privately.

In response to some negative comments regarding Sax. I have lived here for 2 fifths of my adult life. Never felt "trapped", have seen house prices rise and fall. All on the same playing field. The UK polical uncertainty certainly has'nt helped. I do not intend leaving Sax. I integrated as we entered the new millenium (I had to). The main Spanish residents ( now my friends) with respect and acceptance, gave me, a foreigner, much help as I adjusted into a polite respectful society. Nightmare...NO. Our Spanish community is hardly "3rd world" High "old fashioned standards YES. I feel very privileged to have experienced this healthy country & culture, & hope to continue to do so. If I sell my house in the country, I will continue to live & enjoy Sax. Villas.

Hola Villas,

It's always good to hear differing opinions. It always amazes me how two people living in the same area come up with two such opposing views. But it would not do if we were all the same, would it? I always enjoy a healthy discussion.

I just feel that I have run my time here in Spain. There is nothing that I especially crave for in the UK and if I lived anywhere Londistan I would probably think twice, but my beautiful West Country is beckoning.

My advice to anyone thinking of buying in Spain is try before you buy. Rent somewhere in the area you want to move to for a few months and then make your mind up.I might turn out to be a lot cheaper for you in the long run.

A quick note to Sawbochris. No, I don't support any football team . For me, the ball is the wrong shape.

I don't think we differ. Age comes into it! My house in the campo I enjoyed (& still do) The views, clean air & the fact you can walk, drive, without passing anyone for hours remind me of how it was in the west country when I was a child. Made my bed ( here) a little too large. & so rather than re-make, I will "down-size!. Football, rugby, no....ooo. Give me some formula 1 anytime. Yes my friend, we're all different. Good luck with your changes. 🙏

Thanks for the reply. My problem is similar insomuch I find 6000sqm getting more diffult to maintain and I am well past retirment age. The old back does not bend as well as it used to.

My main interest has a clue in my nom-de-plume. Classic cars. At least I can still enjoy doing that. The rugby days are long gone.

This afternoon I am changing the rear transmission mount on my classic Jeep.
