Masks.......first we are told they won't be much good anyway and then it looks like they will be compulsory.  I despise people who have managed to buy in bulk only to sell them on at extortionate prices.  They say the ones that cover your whole face are best.  So with time on my hands I made one.  A previous dog of mine had to wear one of those plastic collars and I still had it........so..........I cut a piece that covered my face and stapled a wide piece of elastic to it.  Sounds stupid I know but I trialled it shopping last week and it worked ok.  My entire face was protected and I could breathe.  I rather look silly than the alternative...... My sister came up with a good idea too.  Some paper towels are thick enough to use a sewing machine on and  therefore could be used to make masks which can be worn once and then thrown away.  If nothing else it keeps me occupied and as the saying goes "Necessity is the Mother of Invention".

Hi Stormy1,

Great idea!👍  I think I may have some thick, A4 transparencies somewhere that could work.  The beauty of this, is that they can be easily sanitised too.  Thanks for sharing.

By the way, where did you see that face masks are likely to become compulsory?

Thanks and regards,

Kim

Thanks, Ray, that makes sense.  I wonder if the UK has similar plans for London's Underground??  ;o)

Hubby will be pleased to know he doesn't have to wear one around Consum.

Kind regards,

Kim

My brother, in UK ordered masks from an American company at  approx £20 a mask, he is not stupid, is a bit paranoid about this whole situation , but is prepared to do anything and everything he can to protect himself and everyone close to him. The apparently arrived today but haven’t spoken to him to find out any more

Hi Patsy,

£20 per mask??!!   F......f......f...... flippin' heck!  Either your brother is more than a "bit" paranoid, or he has money to burn!  Either way, I hope you all stay safe.

Best wishes,

Kim
