Dean can you tell us what is getting better? Any examples?

I'm sure he'll get back to you soon... 🤔

The Express can surely provide several examples, they might not be true but that'll be the place to look.

Sorry Paul... I think they concentrate more on blaming the EU for it all going wrong. They can't spare the manpower to hunt down any little benefits....

True, they're even blaming the EU for not being flexible around the NI agreement which both sides signed in good faith, the nasty old EU want us to stick to what we signed.

Thanks for this info.

In relation to this topic and the information posted; we have recently travelled to the UK from Alicante, and in passing through Border Control in Departures we were asked if we had residency. As we did, on showing our TIE Cards we did not have our Passports stamped. Other passengers without residency were having their Passports stamped. This seems to me to show that they are now keeping track of entry and departure dates.

Yes it looks like you get your 1st stamp free, in as much as there's no punishment for the initial overstay. which seems to answer the OPs question.

However, things may be different for subsequent overstays.

Do you know if they scan passports on arrival.

Passports may be scanned for the information contained within the bio metric chip. This is read only information and has nothing to do with calculating the length of your stay. This information may be used to see if the holder is flagged on a national database but unlikely to be used to calculate length of stay for some time.

However, If/when ETIAS is implemented and rolled out through out the Schengen area this may change.

On page two of this thread there's a post saying that two couples have been banned from entering Spain for two years as a result of overstaying.
