There is a lot more going on Malaga way but crime is worse down South.I'm sure you will find what is right for you

Hi Cindy, now that I've been in La zenia, had a look around I'm going to hunt for something between there and Playa Flamenca...so thanks for the advice! Being on the ground puts things in prospective:!

I am 56 and moved last October to El Galan and settled in really well. I am not a party animal but lit's around if you are.

This time of year things look good and busy but ensure you ask what it is like in winter. I live in a nearly all UK area where people live all year round.

Places where people have holiday homes can be quiet and lonely when all have gone back to UK.

Get on the site www.Meetup.com when you get here for socialising.

La Zenia is good ane then everything is just a short distance away. Playa Flamenca is lovely also but can be quiet. Happy to meet up with you when you arrive. Do not rush. I have a room and private bathroom you can rent in my home to test the areas. Be happy to help show you around and get you talking to people who have live here 15 years.

When we rush we could make a mistake. I find the houses and apartments over here noise.  The walls are thin so if that bothers you just see where the bedroom is situated etc.

I came over on and off for 2 years before I sold up and bought here. It was worth the wait. Did loose a deposit once as rushed so as I say take your time.

Let me know if you are interested in lodging with me for a while.

Gillian

Hi Gillian,

Well I've been and back from La Marina and La Zenia! I needed to put my feet on the ground and get a better sense of what I really want!I took your advice and have passed it on to others in the same situation,so thank you! You're so right about the quality of build...for some reason we forget that no matter where you are in the world we tend to forget that construction can be slapped up and can lead to poor quality!! Shallow walls are the last thing we want!!! So I'll keep looking! I'm wrapping things up here(literally)and probably will rent for a time before buying. So it would be nice to hook up if you don't mind for the chat? Really looking forward to heading out there now...thanks so much for your advice again, hope to see you soon:)

It's the best location Angie.   You can walk / cycle everywhere .  Keep in touch.  Would love to follow your journey.  We will be out there towards end of May, end August and 5 - 19 September.

MaxGoldhouse is a great agent but contact a few. You can get free WiFi at the la Zenia boulevard so can do all your internet searches there.

Regards

Cindy

Hi there, any suggestions out there? I was thinking of moving to Torrevieja but seems it's for retired or young families and very little age groups in the middle! I'm single late 40's and looking for an area  in Spain with loads of expats for normal living...work,fun and the crack!!I'm Irish...

... please help as I'm almost sold up n nowhwere to go!!!

Hiya. I'm from Dublin and live in central Torrevieja. I wouldn't be anywhere else as the rest of the 'urbanisations' are just as you say, a bit more mature. Happy to put you in touch with people our age (though I'm mid 50s I still think of myself as 40s lol).

Rent first anyway before you buy and that way you can decide where you like best.

Hi there - I purchased a 2 bed house in Toretta Florida last year and love the area - everything is within walking distance - Lidl, Carrefour, Mercadona, Haberneras, lots of good restaurants/bars and a large swimming pool just round the corner - I'm right behind the Bomberos & Police station and can walk to the new Friday Market site in 10-15mns - also have a nice stroll down to the Marine in 20-25mns.

My neighbours are an assortment of nationalities and ages and everyone is very friendly - I'd highly recommend this area -there are a few small houses left for sale - come visit soon
