S1 form - 4 replies
Straight forward. I am 58, eu citizen but lived and worked in UK all my life. Presently arranging my residency in Spain. Is the s1 form for healthcare only for those actually receiving state pension which I am not due to being only 58 or for those on another kind of benefits from the UK?
If you are not receiving an old age pension or a benefit then there is no point in getting an s1 form and get private health insurance. Is this the case?My lawyer has confused me this morning. Many thanks

How/who to complain to about substandard dental work? - 4 replies
I am very unhappy about a substandard dental procedure I had and how I've been treated and insulted on raising the issue, and have no faith in them rectifying the problem. As such I want my money refunded to get the work redone elsewhere but the dental practice ignores my complaint emails. Is there some way of escalating, contacting a dental association or an overseeing body? I cannot find anything online and going down the legal route is a last resort preferably. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
Moving to Spain Permanently - 8 replies
Hello everybody,
this is Frank and I am in need of help. My wife and I have lived in three different countries as permanent residents so far and we are now considering to move to Spain, possibly in the Almeria province.
We lived in Italy, UK, and we are now in Malta.
Passports: Frank IT - LIly UK
We are fully aware that moving to another country is difficult and involves a certain degree of unpredictability - you'll never know what is really going on until you have lived there for 2 or three years.
Since we live on a budget we can't afford encountering unpleasant surprises, that mainly refers to laws and immigration polices.I would really appreciate if somebody from the EU or UK who has lived in Spain for many years, could help me with a few questions (it's all about making money):
1) We are self employed at present, as online English teachers. We have had this business for +10 years. We are sole trades and make enough to pay the bills, but our business is humble.
Can we register in Spain to work as self employed? Without paying extortionate taxes as if we were a big business? Can we open a business and only pay if we make money? Or is money due even if the business does not make a penny?
2) Could I attempt in time, as a permanent resident, to purchase a couple of properties and set up a rental business? Again, will the government facilitate my attempt or make it difficult? Will I ever find tenants? Etc.
3) Please feel free to comment on my general plan if you get the gist, and feel free to disillusion me, as I am in need of sound advice
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this,
Frank

Over 90 days in Spain - 2 replies
I am posting in behalf of my dear friend.
She has a Spanish passport, lived in Wales with her partner for a few years (they have small kids in common) and moved to Spain in March. As they were not a married couple, they were told at the townhall that the easiest way for him to be able to stay in Spain was to get married. Everything got organised, but it took them almost 3 months to get married. (due to paperwork etc) I was a witness at their civil wedding, but before that I was interviewed by the athorities in order to confirm that they were a real couple.
They got married in June, and she thought that everything would be ok after that so she did not apply for a residency green card/certificate for him. She now has contacted the foreign office and nobody can tell her whether he is legally here or not (one person says he should fill in a form, another one says he should fill in a different form...) It is all a bit confusing....
Because they did not apply for the green certificate straight away after the wedding, now they worry about the consequences.... (they started the process now)
Could he get fined? Is he legally here?
I appreciate any info, or if somebody knows about a gestor or lawyer who could help? The lawyer they went to was asking them for 1500€....
Thanks in advance!
Izzy
