I've got to say I'm a little baffled with the changes in restrictions for children. Thinking back (quite a long way), my daughter would burn off more energy racing around the house than she would walking sedately beside me to the supermarket or chemist, in fact she would at times throw a tantrum at the very thought of having to go if it didn't include a trip to the park and if I suggested we take a short walk around the block she would think I had gone mad. Some of these children will be in pushchairs so will burn off no extra energy at all. If they have been told, in whatever way is age appropriate, that there is danger outside, why are we taking them out now and why is everyone wearing masks and not greeting each other with kisses? If it is no longer dangerous, why can't they play in the park? If it is for their psychological well-being, just how is that helping?
I can only think it is a pre-cursor to re-opening schools. They are of the age group who are statistically less likely to suffer serious symptoms so as long as infection rates and deaths don't start to rise again.......Poco a poco.
It would be good to hear what others think on this subject, are they hopeful or more worried now about going out to get supplies? Are parents really wanting to take the little darlings out on their errands when they have been able to do it on their own up to now? Will it make it more difficult for parents who now have to add another layer of explanation to their children when we really don't have the answers?

Cheryl, the easing of the restrictions regarding children has been amended to going for short walks accompanied by one adult. This is due to the high level of criticism of the original plan.

Thanks for the update John.  I'd read the original notice and had similar thoughts to Cheryl.  I feel sorry for parents who are trying to keep their little ones amused, but putting them in settings that could potentially expose them to unnecessary viral load seems counter-intuitive to me, especially when we still don't know whether infection results in immunity 🤔

Take care guys,

Kim

Children can now accompany adults on the daily dog walk, shopping trip or to the pharmacy, as far as I can ascertain the new rules do NOT allow children to be taken out for walks or to the park etc.

Walks yes. parks no.

The Spanish government have made a u-turn on kids leaving the house on May 26. [Edited April 26 thanks to John56] They initially said kids could only go to the bank, supermarkets and pharmacy with their parents but have bowed to pressure and now say kids under 14 can [just] go out for a walk.

The easing is from the 27th April not May.

Thanks for all your thoughts. I had read the official announcement and knew that you didn't have to take children out, or to the park, it was more a query of why? Fresh air is in abundance here and all properties have windows but it is trying to explain to a 5 year old that they can walk to the supermarket and the bank etc and possibly have to walk straight past a park on the way but they can't go in there and if it is dangerous in the park, why isn't it in the supermarket? I can imagine the words "Why" or "Por qué" are going to be doing overtime. Parents would have spent the lockdown telling them that it is dangerous to go out and now things have changed, but they haven't because now everybody is wearing masks and they can't go and greet their friends and relatives. I think some may suffer more psychological damage by possibly feeling scared than with the black and white ban on going out and some will not have the words to properly express their concerns and may internalise.
The older ones are going to be pushing boundaries as is normal and only time will tell how this pans out.
But will it put them and others at more risk? I've got to say I'm going to ramp up the disinfecting routine when my husband returns from his next shopping trip, anyone got a sheep-dip going spare?

"What did one sheep say to the other sheep?
 "After ewe"
