I have read the basic t&cs and the quick quote only covers those up to the age of 59 otherwise you need to contact them for a quote. There is no cover for cancellation, curtailment or lockdowns and doesn't cover any pre-existing conditions, even if you have not yet been diagnosed and are on a...

... waiting list for any investigations or taking any medication apart from very general ones such as birth control.
You cannot get cover if you have any respiratory conditions or heart problems, strokes or diabetes.
So, if you have a clean bill of health and are reasonably young, you can get cover and this is because even if you do get Covid, you are very unlikely to need hospital treatment or need to be repatriated.

Thank you very much

I have spent a good part of my working life turning down claims where people thought they were covered (and paying those that were) and another few years in fraud detection. Enough to know that insurers are not going to be gung ho about Covid so I can only suggest that everybody who thinks they a...

...re insured should have a good long read of the terms and conditions, especially the exclusions, your responsibilities and the declaration that you sign.
For those who pay for a bank account with travel insurance included, chances are you took that out years ago and have since collected a range of ailments and conditions that you have not advised the insurer about which, in many cases, could lead to the medical cover being invalid.

Thank you

Thank you Angebadge but maybe you rang them before the FCO advised against all non-essential travel?
I have turned down thousands of claims in my working life and every time the reason for the refusal was in the terms and conditions, I couldn't have done it otherwise.
With travel insurance ...

...a big problem is cover provided via a bank account where people have gone years thinking they are fully covered but unless they tell the insurer of all medical conditions diagnosed or treated after the insurance was first taken out they could be on a very sticky wicket.
I was mainly concerned that people were travelling without cover which could lead to big problems should something go wrong.

We have checked with nationwide and their travel and breakdown indurqnce (non covid) valid even of travelling now with current FCO advice in place for Spain.

Are you confirming that Nationwide will cover you but excluding anything linked to Covid?

https://www.nationwide.co.uk/support/travel/important-travel-information#xtab:twistyitem-medical-expenses

Included in this is the statement "Travel insurance will only cover you for circumstances that you were not aware of when you booked the trip or were due to travel."

They have excluded the biggest risk around at the moment, for good reason, so there is not full travel insurance in place.

Hi Cheryl

Taken from the link to the Nationwide link you posted

“As long as you are not travelling against doctor’s advice and are not travelling to an area where the FCO has advised against all travel, then you will be covered for emergency medical expenses abroad including reasonable and necessary additional travel expenses that you may incur as a result of becoming ill”

So, to you all your recent posts, you are correct 👍

Online insurance agency perhaps? 😂😂🤪🥂

Thank you all, I give up, 🤣 Ryanair wants us to check in soon as they are still flying to Spain with tourists  twice a week against FCO
