‼️‼️Important information from the Insurance Compensation Consortium of the Comunidad Valenciana regarding the compensation of those affected by the recent floods‼️‼️

THE INSURANCE COMPENSATION CONSORTIUM

INFORM THOSE INSURED WHO ARE ENDANGERED/ AFFECTED BY

THE FLOODS IN THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY

1º) The INSURANCE COMPENSATION CONSORTIUM, Public Entity of the MINISTRY OF ECONOMY AND ENTERPRISE, will indemnify the damages caused to PEOPLE or PROPERTY on the basis of the following REQUIREMENTS:

a) In general you must BE PREVIOUSLY INSURED. Therefore, damaged property or persons must be protected by an insurance policy that was in force at the time of the damage.

b) In the case of DAMAGE TO PERSONS, you must have an insurance policy that covers the risk of ACCIDENTS, even in combination with other coverage or as a complement to them (for example, in a life insurance policy), or a policy of the branch of LIFE that guarantees EXCLUSIVELY OR MAINLY the risk of DEATH.

c) In the case of AUTOMOBILE VEHICLES (cars, trucks, buses, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds ...), damages will be compensated both in the event that the vehicle was insured with cover for damages to the vehicle itself (for example, breakage of windows, theft or those known as fully comprehensive insurance with or without excess), as well as if it were only insured for a civil liability policy (policies commonly known as "mandatory insurance" or "damage to third parties ").

d) In the OTHER TYPES OF ASSETS, the insurance policy must include coverage of any of the following risks: fire; Stole; glass breakage; damage to machinery; electronic equipment; computers; or combined modalities thereof, such as policies known as multi-risk for home, communities, offices, commerce, workshops, industry, SME policies, etc.

e) In addition to direct damage to property, the Insurance Compensation Consortium compensates damages for LOSS OF HABITABILITY and FORCED EVICTION of a dwelling or property, as well as the LOSS OF BENEFITS of the affected business or activity, provided that these concepts are insured in the insurance policy contracted, are the result of direct damage to the insured property, and the property is owned or associated to the insured himself.

2º) WAYS TO MAKE THE CLAIMS OF DAMAGES

The communication of the damages may be made directly by the affected insured or through its insurance company, or the insured's agent or broker. The fastest and easiest way is to communicate them in one of the following alternative ways:

a) Via the freephone number 900 222 665

For sporadic moments in which there could be saturation of calls, a system has been established in which the insured can leave his telephone number which will be called back, shortly after, so that the damages can be reported.

b) Online, through the website of the Insurance Compensation Consortium www.consorseguros.es, if you have an electronic certificate or electronic DNI.

This requires that the following data be provided:

- Details of the insurance policy: insurance company and policy number.

- Data of the person making the communication of damages and of the insured, if they were different persons: name and surname or company name; NIF or CIF; Address and contact numbers.

- Bank details for the payment of compensation: IBAN code (24 digits), composed of two alphabetic characters that indicate the country and two control digits, plus bank entity number, branch number, control digits and bank number account.

- In the case of damage to motor vehicles: make, model and registration of the damaged vehicle. If you are in a workshop to be repaired, name, address and telephone number to expedite the assessment of the damage.

3º) VALUATION OF THE DAMAGES

The Insurance Compensation Consortium will send an insurance expert to assess the damages. To facilitate this, please:

a) Have available to the expert: the insurance policy and the receipt of the premium that proves the existence of the insurance, its conditions and its validity at the time the damage occurred; repair budgets and invoices, if any. Any bank receipts or documents that includes the bank account code IBAN (24 digits) to which the compensation has been requested to be paid, for verification.

b) In the case of deterioration or destruction of damaged property or urgent repairs made before the visit, the insured must keep:

- the remains of damaged property available, if not possible, take photographs of their removal.

- the invoices in case of urgent repairs.

4º) COMPENSATION PAYMENT

The Insurance Compensation Consortium will pay the compensation in all cases directly to the beneficiaries of the insurance by bank transfer.

5º) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

a) 900 222 665 or 952 367 042

Opening hours: Monday to Friday, from 09:00 – 18:00, Saturday and Sunday, from 09:00 – 15:00.

b) On the website of the Insurance Compensation Consortium: www.consorseguros.es

My kids where renting a small farm in Dolores and they lost literally everything. It turns out the landlord had no insurance for contents and everything they owned was waist deep in raw sewerage , I rent my small flat out in Quesada and I was told by the insurance agent that if I rent it I MUST have contents insurance to cover the tenants goods as well as our own. Is there any way they can claim from the landlord? Surely if I HAD to have contents insurance on a fully furnished flat that also covered the tenants private property then they should have too.

Thanks

Jacqui

Not sure, but when I rented a place the landlord insured the property and I insured the contents.

Oh. OK. I was told if I dodnt insure the contents and the flat got robbed she could denounce me and claim for her "antique gold" and anything else she fancied adding AND I would have to pay her its value. It was an extra 30 euros so I paid it. Maybe I was misled or too honest saying it had a tenant in😪💖
