So can you still travel still now to the French border to go to England? Then go on the Chunnel if you aren’t booked on it? As I thought the borders were closed in Spain? So I’m totally confused!!! Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Me too, that's why I asked Peter and Mark to share links to their source information.  I've had a look on the www.gov.uk website and found this information with a link to the "letter of attestation" (in the 2nd paragraph) you need to travel through France:

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/france

There doesn't seem to be such specific advice on the Spanish travel section:

"British travellers who are currently in Spain and who wish to return to the UK are advised to make travel plans to do so as soon as possible."

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/health#coronavirus

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Kim

I drove up Tuesday morning crossing the border around 7pm for yesterday’s Roscoff to Plymouth sailing. I went up the A23 leaving it close to the border for the N-330 at Jaca and that becomes the N134 after going thru the border tunnel near Canfranc. Had to wait for 20mins at Spanish side and wa...

Yes I was alone Ade which was better as I had to sleep in the car but two wouldn’t be a problem I’d say as you’re on the way home. Show your sailing ticket/email if asked. I noticed many campers heading north especially from Valencia upwards with couples in most. I just now received an email from Brittany Ferries saying they’ve just suspended ALL their passenger services from from France & Spain to the Uk and Ireland. They added that they have one sailing left from Spain this Saturday but it’s full. They said they’ll continue minimum freight services. Brittany aren't the only show on the road by any means so others will continue but I’m sure on reduced sailings. Calais - Dover has multiple ships crossing daily on the short trip and will have to keep going. I was confined to cabin by Brittany so I wonder how it works with dogs ?

Got that at 5.30pm

Dear Customer,

The Coronavirus pandemic has affected people, businesses and communities all around the world. This, of course, includes Brittany Ferries and our customers.

Following advice given by governments in all countries to which we sail, we have been forced to temporarily suspend passenger services connecting the UK, Ireland, France and Spain. We apologise sincerely to all those affected.

All passenger sailings between the UK and France, Ireland and France and Ireland-Spain have ceased operating for the time-being. The final passenger repatriation service leaving Spain for the UK this weekend is full.

A small number of ships in our fleet will continue to operate with limited crew as a lifeline freight-only service. During this period of uncertainty we must do all we can to ensure that essential goods continue to flow freely.

We’ve acted in the best interests of passengers and our colleagues. Our priority, of course, is the safety and well-being of passengers, crew, shore-side staff, suppliers, as well as the communities we serve across four countries.

Our teams have been working hard to answer calls, but due to the exceptionally high level of affected bookings we now have to close our phone lines and divert all resource to contacting passengers proactively over the coming days. If you have a booking with us over the coming days and haven’t heard from us, please bear with us. For urgent enquiries, you can still contact us via a web form on our website.

For amendments to sailings from mid-April onwards, please use the online ‘manage my booking’ facility. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and we hope to return to normal service as soon as we can.

We know that everyone is doing the best they can during this ever-changing and unprecedented situation. And that’s what we are trying to do too.

Take care and stay safe,

Christophe MATHIEU
CEO Brittany Ferries

We drove up through Spain on the AP-7 and crossed into France and up through Bordeaux to the tunnel last Thursday.  We had completed an attestation and had all of our docs ready.  The motorways were empty and we were just waved through at the border.  Everything was being stopped coming into Spain from France but was ok going the other way.  Again, the motorways in France were deserted.  Take some food as most shops were closed in the service areas. Eurotunnel was deserted and there were only five cars on our train.  They were still running a normal service.  We did not get stopped once.  We were concerned but drove straight through without any problems.  Good luck!

Thank you, just home in Blighty now and it was a breeze.
