Then I would tell them you want the service I have or you are going to change to a company that does, also I think every phone company had to do this on our governments order about two years ago.
You can check on google if that’s right.

I’ve just rechecked and it’s correct what I’ve said, so go on google and put uk phone charges in Europe.

I have first hand experience of banks not accepting another countries phone number. Sabadell refused to accept my UK mobile for Internet banking and likewise HBOS in the UK then refused to accept my Spanish phone. I subsequently purchased a dual SIM phone and now don’t have a proble...

...m. I use Cablemovil here in Spain and GiffGaff in the UK although GiffGaff do have a limit on the amount of time you can use their goody bag on roaming, I believe it’s about two months. However I stuck on a Top up to my £5 goody bag when this happened and as it doesn’t expire I have never required to Top up again therefore I am never without service and as I’m resident here I only really need it for UK online banking which is not very frequent.
There are a number of companies and/or government agencies here who won’t accept a UK mobile although to be fair there are also many who do.
In my opinion a dual SIM phone resolves any potential issues and the current monthly bill for both is approx one third of what my UK EE bill was before I changed over to GiffGaff. I found that the included Data deals are much more cost effective here than the UK although not with Movistar who were off the scale. A lot of the Internet service providers locally include landline and mobile services in their bundles and some of these are exceptionally good.
There is also the fact that due to the weird utilities bills process within the Community here wherein I don’t receive a Utility Bill from Iberdrola or Hidraqua directly so I use my Cablemovil bill as proof of residence as and when required.
Can’t understand why your bank doesn’t accept your uk phone,as I’ve been with Cajamar and Unicaja for years, and they’ve never ever mentioned about uk phones, don’t forget your the customer, and the banks are there to serve you.

Here is a link re Roaming and charges.
As previously stated Sabadell would not accept my UK mobile nor would HBOS in the UK accept my Spanish mobile. Things may have changed since then I haven’t had the need to check but a Dual SIM phone is the answer for me. You cannot use a UK mobile from the UK to call Spain and not incur International call charges or vice versa through your service provider as you are not roaming in your home country. Also your service provider could implement the fair use policy to avoid people taking advantage similar to what Giffgaff do as per my previous post.

That’s correct, but what was mentioned was phoning in Spain, you can phone anywhere in spain and it comes off your minutes the same as uk.
Also tell your bank to wake up to the 21 century, and change banks, the Cajamar would laugh at the suggestion of not accepting uk phones.

Hi,
Get a sim only with capped data, unlimited voice and sms package from giffgaff. You must have your phone unlocked for this. They can give you new number. You can also keep your old number if you want, just request the PAC code from your current survice provider and update to giffgaff platform. They’ve got different costs packages. I used £15.00 / month for ( 8 Gb data, with unlimited voice and sms) its a breeze to stay in contact with the U.K.. and I’ve never run out. You’re still in connection with any British App on you phone. I don’t have much phone contact with Spanish numbers to merit a local sim yet, but I have a cheap unlocked spare phone for later. I would recommend you buy a cheap unlocked smartphone from the U.K. high street ( they’re all over the place). Your British mates will be paying local rates and so will you on your giffgaff package. And you can disconnect whenever you want. One month at a time. NOTE:- you may have to pay more to phone premium numbers on your giffgaff package.
Hope this helps
iDragon.

We are not talking about phoning Spain from the uk,it’s people in spain can use their uk phone in Spain to phone home and any European number with there uk minutes.
Surely nowadays, everyone calls family back home on Wattsapp.
I use my Uk phone in Spain at no extra cost . My UK phone account is with Three and calls come out of my monthly allotted allowance for out going ,free for incoming . The same with text messages . If I call another number on Three tariff it is even better as there is no limit to the number of calls I make
My Spanish phone is PAYG with Movistar and I very seldom use it
