Hi,

About 14 years ago on my very first visit to Alicante I was driving from the Alicante Airport and when I approached a small quiet roundabout near campamore area, there was a young woman dressed normally and waved me down frantically like she was in distress, me being green I slowed down and she came running towards me, when I asked what's wrong, what's happened, she said do you want business? I said what do you mean she said, sex, no no I thought you were hurt or in trouble. I said sorry, and drove off.

When I told some friends about this the next day they laughed at me and said, you had better get used to this they are every where.

Sure enough, two out of every three roundabouts I came to had women there looking like they were lost or waiting for a lift, I soon wised up and after a few days it became normal to see and it was just one of those things you get used too.

In recent years I have never seen any girls any more, it looks like they have now stopped, which is a great thing, because it can affect property prices.

It has never bothered me before but as I am now looking for a proroperty to buy I wondered if there were any places that should be avoided because of it being rough, violent or having ladies of the night around such areas, or indeed just have a bad reputation for one thing or another.

What I don't want is to find a place that looks fantastic in the day time, it be a real bargain, only to find that in the night time it changes.

I can't think of a better way to find out than to ask on a forum like this, because no estate agent or property businesses are ever going to tell you the truth about troubled areas or areas with bad reputations, if they want their commissions.

Thanks for reading.

Unfortunately the ladies are very common. Sad to see... You may see a lot of posters around advertising some  establishment, which uses females as main attraction. Be aware, if you get place close to bars, there is somehow always shortage of toilets... Around La Zenia, Playa Flamenca I have seen some shady people possibly selling drugs. And than there is the whiff of marihuana in many places. I would head north of Torrevieja, it is not so run down. I hope more people will give you more opinions, wish you all the best.

I thought they had been banned from plying their wares at roundabouts etc.? Certainly long absent in these parts.

Near me on the N332 they disappeared during the plague, but have returned.

There are a great deal fewer of them than there used to be and they only seem to be present during daylight hours. I assume that they go to one of the "clubs" at night.

I agree.   I haven't seen any of those 'Ladies of the Night' for quite a long time now.

I still think there's plenty of them - as I see them regularly on my cycles.

What I have noticed is they often are now set slightly back from the roundabout potentially on a service road/sheltered by trees which would make them immediately less visible to passing traffic (say the police).

I have never stopped to enquire as to either their profession or what services are provided or the medium of payment.
