My husband is Spanish and I am from the UK.  We are both retired.   He loves music and I like fashion, art and anything creative.  We both love Elche for its elegance and peaceful atmosphere and I was determined to embrace the Spanish way of life.   I am finding the language hard though!  I would like to meet others for coffee or apperitive as I’m missing that.

No its not a village but the message the lady was trying to get across was to find company and I don' think your reply would be helpful to her cause

Hello, I will be moving to Santa Pola, a 15 minute bus ride away from Elche, in the Spring. I will give you a call to go for coffee once I am there if you would like to meet up. I know Elche well as I lived there for a short period ten years ago. I hope you enjoy it there.

I know the show and I know the phrase and I know what she meant and alsoknow the size of Elche unfortunately the way you replied to her message was quite blunt and not at all helpful to her cause. S C LAYTON has come up with a reply which will benefit the lady and probably open up other avenues to friendships. Me thinks one is trying to backtrack after reading your comment back and trying to justify it

Even happier 😆😆😆

Thank you, you’re right.  I didn’t think that ‘The only Brit in the town’ had quite the same ring.

Thank you for you reply.  I love Santa Pola - lucky you.  My favourite place there is Cafe Paris so we have two meet up locations.  Hope to see you soon.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Thanks for replying.  I joined an art class here and met a lovely lady who we see from time to time and I like the sound of your message.  It would be interesting to hear more about your work and Canadian life. Please keep in touch.

Hi cazzie. I live just outside Elche, in la Hoya, if you and your hubby fancy coming for a coffee or tea, you are most welcome anytime.

Regards Marty .
