Hello Jeff, research Gota Frïa and you will see that this is the worst in over 100 years.
Unless you are coming here on a golden ticket and can afford to educate 5 children privately, they will be in Spanish schools and will not join mainstream classes until they can keep up with the others and after school, youth unemployment is running at about 40%.
Adult unemployment is also very high in comparison to the UK and unless you speak Spanish finding a job will be very difficult.
In order to gain residency you will have to prove that you can support yourselves (including paying for private medical insurance) and the financial requirements could be much higher post Brexit if you are from the UK.
Most Brits have retired here, are financially independent and receive free healthcare.

I concur with Cheryl: unless you, or your partner, have a UK pension then the cost of healthcare would be prohibitive.   If you have such a pension then all  would be entitled to free health care as dependents.   The possibility of any child over the age of 12 becoming fluent in Spanish is unlikely and you may be subjecting them to a very difficult and stressful life.  Please consider your options.

PS:  Yes we have regular downpours which can cause problems but i live in Crevillent where we are fortunately free from the flooding sen in many other towns.

HI of course a 12 year old can manage another language, we have three daughters lived in several countries and they are fluent in the languages, the eldest last started a new language Swedish at age 22, the others you would not be able to tell what nationality they were born it is severely restricting children to only educate them in an international school, if you are really focused on making your life in Spain then give them the gift of fluency, yes its hard for them but when they grow up and want to actually have a profession instead of working in a bar they can go to university and earn a degree and have a proper life here, keep them in brit land they will end up doing nothing or going back to uk, I feel its because people move here and don't see it as "home" that they stay with one foot and possibly a leg in the uk, be here or stay there but if you choose here then give your children a chance
