I presume your employer already has commercial presence in Spain?

If so then they should enrol you in the tax and social security system after which you will pay no more than 10% of the cost of medicines. They should know all about this!

If you're talking about moving off your own bat but continuing to work remotely for a UK employer then that's a different ball game altogether.

I recently picked up 50 Metformin for 2.5 euros from the chemist and these are 1000 mg instead of 500mg, therefore being equivalent to 100 tablets. Your other meds you will also be able to get over the counter.

Hopefully if you are employed the meds will not be too bad. I take gliclazide and it is very expensive. I have private health insurance as under 66 so am paying for all meds

Gliclazide is in the region of €50 a month.

Other meds are very reasonable

Metformina 850mg is €1.94 for 50.

Simvastatina 40mg as an example is €2.17 for 28.

Glicklazide (Diamicron) 60mg again as an example is €11.18 for 60.

Hi. Gliclazide - i am not entitled to any assidtance with prescriptions. Do tou have an S1 for it to be do cheap? I apologise for any confusion here.

Not gliclazide but sitagliptin that is very expensive here

An S1 would entitle you to Spanish healthcare.

You'd still have to pay the percentage applicable to your age - 40% or 10%.

After submitting a tax return, if your taxable income is below €18,000, then your prescriptions would be free.

If you're not entitled to an S1, you will have to apy the full price.

If you’re living in Spain your tax will be calculated and paid to in Spain too, regardless of the fact that your employer is based in the UK
