I fully agree with you, and it is not just Brexit and COVID where posts have become personal and abusive. There is no place for name calling and personal insults, but there are some on here who seem to think it is acceptable. Very childish in my opinion and very upsetting.

Very true.

We're in Greater Manchester & the rules basically mean that if you go round to your parents' house for a brew you can be fined £1000.

But if you go to the pub & they're there, provided you keep 2m apart, you're fine & everything's legal.

It's deliberately contradictory.

Well you know the real reason why Manchester, east Lancashire and west Yorkshire are being hit hard and new regulations are being implemented with urgency right ?

Nobody including the UK government dare to confront the huge obese elephant taking up the whole room period !!😠  An increasingly endemic policy to appease every unhappy, wayward molecule in the known universe😢😢😴.

Be it on your heads then but stop trying to struggle to find red herrings and if you chose to ignore a real problem , say diabetes, for example don't be surprised if you get your leg amputated or die of Covid ok. Hope you understand the point 😨😩

You sow what you reap. Nuff said.  Bojo government policy changes with the wind and there concerns don't involve you it never did it never will.

There war is with Europe at this time and if you and your holiday plans get thrown in the meat grinder so be it - its called " collateral damage", just as Cummings threw our sick and elderly people in care homes to there graves because he could 😠  Our veterans are either on the streets or killing themselves and more and more families are relying on food banks in a supposedly G7 country 😠

Progress indeed hooray for the blond jugged walrus.

I can't wait for Jan 2021 - my God there will be a whinge fiesta of gargantuan proportions 😃😂😂

I agree. It`s all about spending in the UK. We`ve had our flight booked since this time last year for a visit 07/08/2020 and have already cancelled 2 flights booked for April then May. We`ve not been to our flat since October last year.

By all accounts it looks safer in Spain than the UK (although we are from Scotland and are better placed than England regarding outbreaks and deaths) if todays pictures on UK beaches are anything to go by. They are locking down some parts of England with restrictions on families meeting in homes ...

...although you can head to the beaches en mass, go to pubs, travel on public transport and go to work......as long as you spend money!

Regarding following the rules: there are always some idiots, wherever you are, that flaunt them. Always the majority that suffer because of the minority.

If we get out to Spain we will certainly follow the rules and just be glad that we are back. We`re prepared to quarantine, if it hasn`t changed by the time we get home, just to give Spain a chance to recover financially. They`ve tried so hard to contain it unlike the UK government which has been totally embarrassing as a nation. All Stay Safe.

Totally agree they want to keep holidaymakers in the UK to help the economy here.

Totally agree. There seem to be some angry people with a chip on their shoulders and instead at looking at themselves, blame our government.

They brought down the other wonderful forum and now doing a hell of a good job bringing this one down too

We must not allow this to happen

Totally agree also.

This forum used to be quite lighthearted with a good dollop of need to know.  I have this morning blocked a number of contributors.

My understanding is that if the Foreign Office advises no travel to Spain then all existing travel insurance becomes invalidated! Quite a bonanza for the insurance lads! So why bother with insurance?? My view is that England is being ruled by morons and this is just another example. What a joke w...

...hen England has the highest death rate in the world after Cowboty Country!

Our insurance companies have advised they are covering for Covid. Best to check with your own travel insurance provider.

Hi Seanie (or is it Anita?),

When you joined this forum, you appeared very grateful for the advice you received from members, in your quest to understand the implications of making a permanent move to Spain.  As an Irish citizen, you have the added advantage of not having to worry about the ramifications of Brexit on your move.  However, for whatever reason, you have decided not to make the move afterall.

It leaves me astounded, therefore, that you find it necessary to be rude to the people who have helped you in the past, by suggesting 'Graham c' is the only "sensible" person on this forum.  You may want to read Alex's note in the green box above, before you post again.

Thanks and regards,

Kim

Just had a quick scan back through that account's comments from the beginning.

I'm no psychologist (or marriage guidance counsellor) but it's clear that Sean wants to move to Spain but Anita's not overly keen & is probably only indulging him because they've only been together for a couple of years (despite being in their 60s) & she doesn't want to jeopardise the relationship or (possibly more accurately) the "lovely 3 bed bungalow by the river" they live in currently.

(Hmmm...wonder whose name's on the deeds to that one, eh...?)

And it looks like she's not got an Irish passport either, as evidenced by her statement early on that Sean had an Irish one whilst hers was British.

So she's not got a smooth pathway to avoiding any complications brought on by Brexit.

As I say, all purely speculation on my part, but I'm sensing that any & all of the positivity regarding moving to Spain comes from one half of that account's shared ownership.

And it ain't Anita...

I had thought you'd understand a polite, reasoned suggestion for why your post was unnecessary, but you just did the same thing again.  I gave you too much credit.
