El Campelo is nice, we love taking the little coast train from there. Goes all the way to Denia via Benidorm. Nice stops along the way.
Hope you will enjoy it, have to say glad we paid solicitors much easier takes all the hassle out of it.

Well we have (when we get the keys!) a bit of a walk to the tram... but it will be nice to explore further than the town and Alicante itself. It seems that Denia is pretty spectacular.
Yes I think we'll be using lawyers too.... just don't particularly want to use the French one we've used for the purchase... feel like I should have been charging him for checking his work! Yes the whole idea of a holiday home is to relax....!

True, Spanish lawyers are better equipped to deal with Spanish taxes. Enjoy your holiday home.

There are various ways of doing it yourself and there are posts on here. We have had our apartment for 12 years, it is a holy home and we don't rent it out. We pay our solicitor a set amount annually to deal with our tax. It is just easier and more convenient. If you want to do it yourself you ha...

Sorry I've just thought of something else regarding the solicitor/lawyer: a French expat told me that his lawyer receives all his mail, and therefore there is no risk of any important documentation not being received or treated in time... does your lawyer/solicitor do this type of thing? thanks !!

So sorry I don't know anything about that. To be honest we have left all tax related matters to the solicitors, they deal with everything and it's included in the annual fee. It's a holiday home we don't want to be bothered with spending our vacation time sorting out taxes. Sorry I can't assist. ...

Sorry for pestering you again.... having a total NIGHTMARE with our wonderful French lawyer.... so that hasnt' helped stress levels. Needless to say when we sign for the property I never want to see the guy again... I was wondering whether your solicitor 'manages' your mail for you? A french expat told me that his lawyer (sadly the one we've used....) manages all his mail seeing as he's non-resident also and that way avoids any misunderstandings etc regarding bills, etc... thanks for your help!

No problem, no all our mail comes to the holiday home, we have set up direct debits with our Spanish bank for bills, electricity, water etc. Also the Sumo that's local taxes direct debit with them. We have a car we keep in Spain also. Insurance for the house automatically renews every year from your bank account unless you stop it yourself, so does our car insurance. We get our bank statements sent to Wales they arrive without problem and we can see our water and electricity debits on there.
All our solicitor deals with is taxes, they also send a regular monthly e mail post with interesting topics and any changes to Spanish law that are important. They will also translate any letters etc, if you need them to and when we upgraded our Spanish car they contacted the Sumo to endure the old one was taken off our name, all in the cost of the retainer fee. I know you can do your own taxes but as I said orevy, want to have vacation time here not work on taxes. For info we bank with Sabadell, their web site and app allows you to access your accounts easily on line. They will also have you a dedicated link worker in your bank who speaks English for any business transactions you may have. We were initially with Bank Inter transferred to Halifax es which got taken over by Sabadell. But the banks are very helpful to ex pat's. When are you hoping to move into your new hot, we are in spy at the moment arrived here yesterday.
If you want to ask anything else please feel free, we were grateful for all the advice we got.

thanks for clarifying that...The vendor's estate agent is going to set up the utilities activities for us (of course for a fee..), so that will be all automatic... and we are also with Sabadell bank too... and have been able to access the account online.. It might be useful for us to get our bank statements sent to us in France... will see if I can do that..... We also set up the house insurance with the bank and she said it's automatic every year unless you give them one year's notice...
Would be interested in the situation with your car.. .(we can perhaps exchange that info by private message if you prefer)... as I know there seems to be some legal mess with non-residents throughout Europe and car insurance etc... I was hoping at some stage to bring my 'old but trusty' car down here... so any information you have on that would be useful to know...
We will like you not be filling in the tax forms ourselves... it's bad enough doing the French ones! Well assuming all goes well... we hope to move in mid-July... so fingers crossed... thanks for all your help. I agree information sharing saves a lot of stress....
