Hi all

has anyone What is the safest way to travel to the U.K.? I am travelling with my 11 year old daughter. We are currently staying with my parents in Gran Alacant. We’ve been advised to fly either from Barcelona or Madrid. I’m thinking of hiring a car to travel to Madrid and get a flight to Heathrow. Has anyone/ or know of anyone/ who has recently taken this route? Is this the best way?

You could get the coach from Santa Pola bus station to Madrid but it’s a long journey.

You could also get the coach from Alicante to Madrid or get the train from Alicante to Madrid. It’s shorter than travelling to Barcelona I believe.

Agree, It's a long way by car , 400 km plus, I got the train from alicante to Madrid last year took i think  2 and half  hours , nice and easy , but think you would need to double check you can catch a flight back to UK first

Getting to Madrid - I would advise taking the AVE train. I THINK it runs from Alicante. Its quick and better than driving

Thank you. I’m trying to limit exposure to other people hence why I’m thinking of hiring a car. A coach would defeat this purpose.

I think you would be safer in Spain ...unless it's urgent to return to the UK.
