From my guide to the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement:

(b) the deadline for submitting the application shall not be less than 6 months from the end of the transition period, for persons residing in the host State before the end of the transition period.

Note that you have to be resident here before the end of the transition period.

Sorry Jill Jim is entirely correct. You need to establish residency in Spain before 31 December 2020. The reference I was making was on the Gov/UK site- living in Europe -  under the subtitle residency and status , but Jim is still correct.

Firstly, don't give up just yet ok. . It is worth noting that China and S Korea , Hong kong, taiwan and Singapore are now beginning to recover from the pandemic. Nobody knows how the future will pan out in Europe and how things might develop its in the hands of the Gods and people's willingness to obey the restriction measures and help eachother period.

A lot can happen in 3 months, its not beyond the capability of man in a crisis !

Try to be optimistic. Plan for the worst, pray for the best that's all you can do imho.

In my experience when one door closes another door invariably opens that takes you completely by surprise . You just have to keep knocking !

Good luck sincerely

Buzzby.

It's up to Spain whether they extend the deadline for residency applications or not and I can't really see why they shouldn't or wouldn't.

Despite Johnsons adamancy that the transition won't be extended with the US almost certain to go into recession and the rest of the world reeling the idea of being able to make trade deals is risible and I think will force his hand. ...

...

Highspot of my day was learning that Cummings is positive!

Unbelievable saying you are happy someone you obviously dont like has tested positive for coronavirus , there are a couple of people on this forum who I dislike immensely (I wonder who) and wouldn't dream of being happy if they got coronavirus, nice.

People please. How can you say you are pleased someone has contracted this deadly virus. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Just because you don't agree with their politics or things they say it does not warrant wishing and gloating about someone's misfortune. Think about what your saying. I'm sure ...

Well said! Some people are sick saying they wish illness on others just because they dont like them, pathetic

So my hubby and I read this two different ways, I think it's the wording Resident and residency.....so as long as we have a home/address in spain before 31 Dec, we can apply for Residencia in Alicante up until the following June if need be.   (hopefully won't be).

Pray tell how many DEALS has Liam Fox secured thus far ???? On average how long does it take for a trade DEAL to be agreed upon ??? Canada ++ for example ?

Pray tell us all Pacoboy how many trade DEALS will we LOSE when we leave the EU, and what budget does the empowered sovereign state of the UK have compared to the EU 27 budget negotiating power to make new DEALS ???

When Pascal Lamy, who describes the WTO as a football league type structure with the Premier league being at the top and the lowest level being say division 4, when the UK trades solely on WTO trading rules which league do you think the UK ( our blessed isle) will be placed in ? I'll give you a clue- we will initially rank alongside the great super power of Bangladesh!  And currently we are the 5TH Country in line to trade with Nigeria ☺

Happy days - a triumph of sovereignty over Global Economic Expansion and survival in the 21st century and beyond ! 😆😃

Let's hope Buzz lightyear is on the UK negotiating team eh paco- Boy ☺

Stay safe, Be well

Well said.  This isn’t the time for celebrating anyone contracting this terrible disease.  These people all have mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and children.  Think about the effect your comment have upon these poor families who have either lost loved ones or have someone trying to fight off the disease as we speak.  #Be Kind

Hi all, getting back to the original subject of this post, as we don’t yet speak much Spanish can anyone recommend a reasonably priced agent to help us apply for residencia, to at least get it underway during the current crisis, or will we have to wait a while more?
We have an apartment here in Formentera but live in France and have permanent EU residence cards for there, for which we had to prove income etc etc. Our house in France is for sale but it’s hopeless currently obviously.

Thanks in advance for any help
