We were in a restaurant today. Our dog escaped its harness in the restaurant and misbehavoured so we put in our car directly opposite. Someone in an the next door bar called the police...…..without speaking to us first. We did not know the rule regarding a dog in a car. The Police were very nice and explained but it was all very depressing. That person that called the Police was drunk.

Hi Lynne and Nick,

I can imagine it must have been embarrassing to have the police speak to you, especially with other patrons watching the proceedings, but I'm afraid I don't understand you comment, "We did not know the rule regarding a dog in a car."  At 1pm today, it was 31C; even now, my thermometer says it's 28C - I wouldn't need a rule to tell me that it's too hot to leave a dog in a car today, even if it was parked under full shade and with the windows down.

I'm a dog owner too and I know it can be a nuisance if your woof starts to 'play up' unexpectedly - our mutt is good as gold 99% of the time, but he doesn't like dogs with squashed snouts - even though his best mate is a Frenchie.  One day last year, we had to leave our favourite bar in Guardamar, without finishing our drinks, when another customer with two pugs decided to sit at the next table........ LOL!

Put it down to experience - at least you know now.

Kind regards,

Kim

Personally I do not like dogs in restaurants. Outside in a bar, maybe, inside restaurants is a no no as far as I am concerned. However, if the alternative is leaving it in a baking hot car - leave it at home!
