Just reminded me of that 60's song

"I broke the law and the law won" 😀

If this is aimed at me (see earlier post), I actually have not complained about being fined. What I do find difficult to justify is not being given an opportunity to respond to the demand as there is apparently no facility to advise those of us with only Apartados as a postal address; even an email advising us of the existence of the fine, to be obtained, for the sake of argument, at the local Ajuntamiento, would be an idea.

I think the original post was designed to see if there had been any wrongdoings. No evidence has been produced so we can all sleep well.

Dear All

I thought I would create this topic to see if anybody has ever had any money taken from their bank accounts by the Spanish government/authorities?

I ask because over the years I have heard people say that they "know someone" who it has happened to, basically saying that the government just took money from their accounts without explanation and for no apparent reason.

As always there is always two sides to a story and genuine reasons behind things.

I look forward to hearing off anybody sharing their thoughts of factual and reliable experiences......if any!

Kind regards

Hi a friend of mine had money taken out for car tax on a car she no longer owned

All the best

That would depend on when they sold the car, whoever owns the car on the 1st of January is liable for the car tax for that year.

Hi and thank you for sharing.

The original post was meant for just random amounts of money taken from bank accounts for no reason......and not returned. So in effect taken just because they wanted to.

It was aimed to see if this has actually happened to people rather than just hearsay. Not scaremongering, conspiracy theories or the like but a genuine question.

It sounds like your friends was a justified withdrawal because the car was still deemed as belonging to them in the eyes of the law.

As I've explained in your other post on this subject...I think you have probably overheard someone in the pub talking about nonsense.

This is a scaremongering post with no evidential links to news stories or anything official.

I hope the mods delete this.

In Spain, sometimes your electricity, water bills, Suma etc. payments, are taken from your bank a/c before you receive the paper bill. Maybe someone has seen this and thought money was being taken without their knowledge. Personally, I have never had trouble with Spanish banks  or indeed anything else Spanish.
