Hello,

Has anyone recently rented a Nissan Micra Acenta car reg no.: 4741 LRY recently and been charged for the 'supposed damage' to the car as shown on attached photos.

We definitely didn't cause this damage but unfortunately didn't take photos when we picked it up on 8th Oct 2021.

We believe they saw we didn't photo the car and then scamed us. they say we hve no evidence that the car was undamaged before 13th Oct, when we returned it.

We would like to hear from you if you have any imformation regarding this car?

We advise everyone to video all hire cars inside and out when picking them up.

Which hire company was it and how much have they charged you if you don't mind me asking? Unfortunately this kind of thing happens quite regularly and it may be worth going through a section 75 claim with your credit card.

It was Click and Rent, which is located just off the airport.

I had taken out an Car Hire Excess Insurance Policy in the UK before coming out but it seems unfair to make a claim from them because the car hire firm has unfairly taken money from me.

Sorry, have never heard of them!
You have paid for insurance so, fair or not, you should contact them to make a claim and then it is up to the insurer if they think they can then claim back from Click and Rent.

Unfortunately this does happen quite often, mainly by the operators at and around the airport.

Centauro did the same thing to me, the guy checking the car off knew exactly where to look, he didn't pay much attention to the rest of the car until he got to the front offside and then dropped to his knees and looked up, oh look, a small scratch !!!

Fortunately I too had purchased excess insurance in the UK, please use it, this is what it is for and they are used to this sort of claim, mine were great and paid out within the week.

Obtain the invoice from the car hire company and contact your insurer for the claim forms.

Hi

I’ve been scammed by many companies at the airport so it’s not only Goldcar that are ripping people off! But please don’t worry about your insurance company paying out. The industry is well aware of the scams and factor it in to their costs. In fact I don’t bother checking the cars anymore and just put the claims in. Always been paid quickly with no fuss as long as all the paperwork is attached to the claim.
