My grandmother has had a place in Sta Pola for over 25 years so I keep saying she should write a book! It has been so useful to pick her brains on everything. Let me know if I can help at all.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

My January bill with Curenergia was 105E (as stated elsewhere) and it was nigh on 5wks, This time the February bill for 4wks is 52E. We only used the heat pump on a few evenings. Basically back to normal.

Hi Sam, anybody with that amount of experience is going to write a treasure...which people need. We wrote, and update, a blog which our children asked for and then we realised that other people moving in to the town had the same questions, so it has been useful. No wordsmith here but anything / knowledge shared has been so useful to us too...especially the builders and electrician who have done work on the villa.

Keep in touch?

Best wishes,

D (&J)

Iberdrola do offer a night and day tariff i.e 14 hours night about 1/2 price, 10 hours during the day just over the full tariff price. I save about 1/3  on my bills, just by using washing machine etc., during the night period. You just need to phone Iberdrola they speak English

Even if you change company your electric is still provided by Iberdrola so all you are doing is paying another company to pay Iberdrola.   All these companies are called Marketeers here is Spain and Iberdrola Clientes is one of them.  You need to get a contract in the regulated market with Iberdrola direct.  This is the cheapest tariff available

Tbh, if another company cuts my bills in half then that's what it's important for me right now as Iberdrola have done nothing about the 126€ bill I got in Jan and I certainly don't need anymore shocks like that Jon !

So post cold snap when prices should come back down will that be reflected in the bills of those in regulated contracts?

Answered my own question. The rate on my February bill is around half what it was in January. Panic over! :-)

Be careful when changing from Iberdrola, there have been cases where there was a fault in the supply and Iberdrola refused to get involved as the customer was not their client, it took ages to resolve with the client being left without power for days. I believe that the 2nd company had to pay Iberdrola to fix the fault.
