My experience of watching roadworks in Spain is that they get stuff done in about a fifth of the time that it would take in the UK. They're very efficient.
A couple of years ago they built a new roundabout on the N332 at Calpe. They kept the traffic flowing around the works, there were never any temporary traffic lights and the new roundabout opened in record time.
I have always said, even when I lived in the UK, that roadworks is an industry there and if they got works done quickly UK unemployment would double.
In Spain builders work to daylight hours a lot of the time, your never see that in the UK.

In the UK they dig the road up to put pie work in and re cover it then the forgot to put in a cable or something else and dig it up again so it has to be re covered again

A typical work day.
I agree with dinnerout. A more appropriate title would be 'Road works in the UK'
