Renovation
Hi we are in the process of buying a house in La Marina. We will be looking to have tiles laid throughout the house, new kitchen and bathroom plus freshly painted. Any recommendations are appreciated, thanks.

Ask for a written estimate and do not accept upfront or part payments - you will get trapped.

Don’t forget you need to apply for a ‘small works license’ at the town hall.

Hi 6688arthur,
In theory, you need either a 'minor works' or 'major works' licence for anything you do to your property, even if it's just painting the walls. In reality, so long as you're not changing anything structural in your kitchen or bathroom, such as removing internal walls, changing the placement of windows or doors, your Town Hall is unlikely to be interested. When we refurbished one of our bathrooms, we replaced the bath with a walk-in shower and changed the window for a 'tilt and turn' type, but because the shower was in the same position as the bath had been and we had the window made to fit the existing window cavity, our Town Hall didn't require us to obtain a licence. If you want to be sure, contact your Town Hall.
My neighbours had their new kitchen fitted by The Kitchen Shop on La Marina urb and are very pleased with it.
Kind regards,
Kim
