All Residencias were originally supposed to be granted by end 2020.

The extension period into 2021 was provided in recognition of the Covid constraints last year.

From your unfortunate experience, it seems that the onus is on the applicant to demonstrate compliance with the requirements (housing, income, a bank track record evidencing residency, healthcare) as at end 2020.

So it seems that the extension is just a grace period for the admin process, not for meeting the compliance requirements.

Hi yeah understand that we booked appointment 11/11/20 for padron but couldnt get one til 24/2 /21 we bought a property here in September 2020 which we have deeds to but solicitor said they wasnt worth showing , got utillity bills and bank transactions showing from November,  I will find someone to raise an appeal,  thanks for your comments

Trying hard to reply because i just can't stop thinking about the 500euro, could you tell me what that was for please? Things obviously have changed in the years because it took me like a few hours for my resistencia but i know the overall cost didnt change and it was nowhere near 500euro and did...

...nt require a lawyer.

Hi that was the lawyers fees for scanning documents and filling out EX20 forms , total rip off. Just thought it would be easier with a lawyer due to all the forms being in spanish

Did you use British lawyers? Usually in spain the British have a tendency to rip other British off, 500euro to do something ya could've done yourself is scandalous. What i would do is wait somewhere for her and get my money back.... But thats me. House deeds would've shown your length of stay here, copying and translation of documents is 100euro max.

Its a lesson learned a hope, just remember sometimes its alot cheaper to take a translator and use spanish officials and try and do as much yourself. Hopefully you'll get sorted asap and can get back to enjoying spain

Hi

We used Alex at a Sun Lawyers in La Zenia and the cost for both of us was €150 - however I believe we had to have the healthcare in place before the application could be submitted, so not sure how your solicitor was able to apply for you?

I would ask for proof of their application and to see the correspondence which states your were denied.  A complaint could then be made if your solicitor has “duped” you in any way, as €500 is indeed scandalous.

Good luck

Sharon

Teresa Bamin is helping a friend of mine challenge their refusal of their residency application.  She is based in La Zenia

Teresa is English and her Spanish husband is a lawyer.

May be worth giving her a call.  My friend’s situation is similar to yours in that his padrón is also dated 2021, although he has been here since early 2020.

Good luck.

Paul
