My husband wants to install gas central heating in our villa.  Where would be the best place to buy a boiler and radiators from, and what is an approx cost for 1 boiler and 7 radiators.

Also how do we get it signed off to get the gas tank installed.

Sorry I know this has been answered before but I can’t find the thread now.

Useful thread

Unfortunately, Screwfix.eu still can't deliver (Covid).

Leroy-Merlin still the best price for pipe and end-feed fittings (if you can use them). I used solder-ring fittings, and these can be bought via ebay.

Lots of regulations around gas .... so I think you would be better off having a qualified installer to supply/fit/guarantee your boiler.

We have gas bottles, but we are planning to use these people to switch to a bulk tank (we are having building work done - so a good time to make the change).

I found that Screwfix prices were better than anything I could find in Spain. The trick is to get them delivered free to an address in the UK then get a man-and-van to bring them over.  It still worked out cheaper.  I also got all the plastic pipe and fittings delivered too, it's so much easier and quicker than copper.

Have you considered using a pellet boiler as it's the cheapest form of heat?  But you do need space.

Unfortunately my man-and -van has packed in, so I can't recommend anyone.

Thank you

we do have a 8kw gas fire but do feel the cold 😅.  We do have a company we use to bring bits over to Spain so will checkout the screwfix prices.

Unfortunately they are not cheap but they are efficient.  I put up a request on Ebay so every time one comes up I got a notification.

If you do go that way get one that is self cleaning or else that becomes a chore.

How big are the pellet boilers ?

May go down that route

A pellet boiler is free standing and a bit bigger than a standard floor standing boiler. They don't come wall mounted. You need to ensure you have comfortable access at the front to get the ash out and pour sacks of pellets into the hopper on the top.

The ash is basically dust and a good commercial type vacuum cleaner with a good suck will do most of the job but you are advised to use a brush as well.

If you want to go the whole hog and have an attached outbuilding you can get them with a big hopper at the side that will auto-feed pellets into the top hopper when it empties. These are very expensive obviously.

Have a look on here for some ideas (and sizes).
