For a start, I am quite calm, and do not need you to tell me to calm down, but all i am  saying is all you hear is residents thinking they are something special just because they have  got their residency and could not care less about the ones who have not.

If we had the virus ,do you honestly think that we would want to flit off to Spain, when we have a perfectly good hospital care here ,and what we are saying we would be willing to have any test or Quarantine if that was necessary ,so we dont need residents telling us they dont want us there....

...

Dave I actully agree. But not ONE PERSON is totally wrong or right on here...not 1. We are all going throught our own personal demon period and thought we can lie to ourselves....facts are we HATE this because nothing is certain and, in our lifetime barring personal hard times, we, as humanity, as ONE, have no certainty. Sorry if I am being inward looking butmI am also looking out and throughout history times have changed. MUCH more than now....millions dead. People on the move etc. We are still very very lucky. So to those on here please stay as one....stop this infighting and nastyness I have seen as we are just projecting our fears. I am a blocke from Bethnal Green and if I can say this SH';ts me up then trust me you need no guilt.

edit.....soz spelling/grammar = reading glasses broke

edit: know what made me smile today? Old Spanish guys shooting the breeze in a bodela - no  most I could not understand but the yung guy serving - great sile....early 20's - made me think THIS IS SPAIN AND WHAT I RECALL AND THIS IS HOPE....... Those guys.....The loud Spanish....it's why we love Spain bro.       Spain has hope....UK hashope....weare as ONE.....no hate. The reason we, as humans suceeded wasthat we came together in urban situations - we conversed - we stored food instead of being distand hunter gatherers. In short, we are and need to be AS ONE. No crap virus worth it's saltwill ever stop that.

Edit#3 My spelling is SO bad I might delete this - but if you get the gist of my point my job is done.....

Yes they should Terry, at least by law. They also have 72 hours before reporting the breach to the ICO...and with a remediation plan.

The fact that that the ICO has an INVESTIGATION running doesn't bode well. I recall that is their level 3 of recourse. The first is is by letter asking for detail and explanation of the breach, the 2nd a visit....etc

It also hinges on when it was 'discovered' as to fine date. Thinking about BA and Taltalk's experience plus the hotel chain (not least) it may be worth watching that space.

2k accounts sounds like an individual muck up, not a database breach...we can live in hope.

Current fine levels since 2018 GDPR and the UK act of the same year are between 2 to 4% of annual gross turnover.

Take care where you share your data, and stay well.

Here's to happier days ;-)

I always leave our beds clean and fully made up and have never had any mildew on them. Stop worrying or you will kill yourself. As for your paint, it too will be fine as long as you left it in a cool place and not in the intense sunlight. I leave my opened paint container in the fridge when we go...

... home  ( yes, I leave my fridge:freezer on with butter, bacon, sausages, cheese , some bread for toast and other items) You may consider that to be wasteful but that is what I have done since buying back in 2001. I do turn the water off though!  I also leave long life milk and orange juice for our breakfast when we arrive on the evening flight so that we can have a normal breakfast next day.  Sadly, no eggs!

My thoughts too R and Ray...we left in late Feb with an intent to return in March....and there is a rather potent cheese in that fridge (just hoping the electricity didn't phase out).....just don't want to think about it, or be the first in. Had a break in recently, the guest suite downstairs and they took the TV plus a few books. That was an old Messerschmitt of a TV...must have hurt...please Guardia don't ask if I want it back!

Just humour in these times...

I was speaking with a relative who lives in La Marina and she tells me that residents do not want visitors coming to stay in their holiday homes.

Similar comments have been made in the UK so in a way,I don’t really blame them but LIFE MUST GO ON and most of us are champing at the bit to get back to the Sun in Spain....

...

A family arrived near them and a neighbour called the police to report them.

Perhaps we should face the hard truth and realise that travelling to our Summer homes this year may not be possible. We will not be welcomed.

I too am afraid of catching Covid 19 so can empathise with everyone living on the Costa.

Perhaps a test before flying will be my salvation!  And yours too!

With you on that ! ;-) ...fingers crossed

Sorry, I stand corrected. 9 million data records, 2k+ credit cards plus CVVs apparently. They knew in January. Only able to advise the latter in April. Notify everyone affected by 26th May. It was sophisticated, forget drive-by.

I have no words.

Your battery  will definitely be down, the electronics will slowly suck the life out of it in about a month. The problem is that if the current drain continues you will probably need to replace the battery. Leaving a flat battery for months usually is terminal. Unless you are technically disposed even disconnecting the battery on departure and reconnecting on arrival is not so simple as many things may need to be reset.

The first time we went away for 6 months we found a rather strange odour on opening the door. It was caused by roaches having taken over, the bath was full of their excrement and hundreds of body parts (Cannibals) It took a week or two to get control and eliminate them.

Over the next few years there were always a few that got in and were found belly up. We used to put Solfac in the corners and near the door, they were never a problem in the following years.

OMG my wife’s worst fear!  I’ve had to move my flight date on to the 6 July as I don’t think we will be able to travel in June!

I hope we aren’t infested with Ants and Riaches!  Thanks for the advice to get rid of the creatures !!!

I can’t comment on cock roaches but surly ants are looking for food.  If you leave the work tops perfectly clean then you should not have any ants.

Flour left in a cupboard can be infested with tiny insects. I keep my flour in a Tupperware container in my fridge... best place for it in Spain.

If you found cock roaches in your bathroom you would assume that they are coming in through the drains.  Put the plugs in before going home, possibly put a piece of squashed up tin foil into the overflow hole. Turn all water off before leaving.

I remember years ago seeing what I thought were mice droppings in our saucepan cupboard, later was told that they could have been cockroach droppings. I had a piece of board fitted to the rear of the cupboard and never saw any droppings since.

Leaving properties for longish periods of time is unfortunate because you have no way of knowing if the rain has penetrated during a wet period. More than likely the sun will have dried any wet areas in the interim. It pays to have someone to come in on a regular basis to check the place.
