This states that Barclays are no longer offering insurance for Covid. If you already have the insurance it seems to offer cover for Covid ( as long as all pre-existing conditions have been divulged and accepted by Barclays in writing ) but not if the travel restrictions were in place when you boo...

https://www.aviva.co.uk/help-and-support/coronavirus/travel-insurance-customers/
This states that Aviva are no longer offering cover for new customers but, from a swift scan through the T&Cs it does seem to offer cover for existing policyholders.

I can only suggest that anyone who thinks they have travel insurance to contact their insurer for confirmation as many standard policies do not offer cover for travel against FCO advice.

Cheryl

Thanks for your time policy taken out January so should be Ok will double check before we come  out September thanks.

You can get travel insurance that excludes COVID but includes being placed on a ventilator if needed. I know because I have it

You would be placed on a ventilator if it was a medical necessity through the EHIC and the insurance probably states elsewhere that any medical help available through reciprocal health arrangements must be sought first (rather than private hospitals) but the insurance probably doesn't include any other expenses incurred including medical repatriation etc which is basically what you want to be insured for plus such things as extra food and accommodation for a traveling companion, new flights home etc.
Above all else it is critical that the insurer is fully aware of any pre-existing conditions because this is where many people will not qualify.

It would really help if a link was provided for such policies so other members who are desperate to get over here with some kind of valid insurance can benefit from this.

Hi Brian.
Someone posted information on the forum last week about an insurance company called Battleface which includes cover for COVID-19 and may be worth checking out. It only covers people up to and including age 59 yrs. but is valid even to areas where the FCO have advised against travel. I don’t know if repatriation of bodies is included in the cover. Stay safe.

Yes, our insurance company immediately asked when we booked to go away and as it was well before the covid outbreak, our cover still stands including if we were to catch coronavirus.

With regard to having your body returned, cheapest ways would be cremation in Spain and ashes carried home by a loved one or possibly couriered.

I hope you do not require this service. Enjoy your holiday and your 2 week quarantine at home afterwards.

Hi Brian

On your question how much does it cost to be repatriated I have been through this horrible experience when my dad died while we were on a family holiday to Majorca. The cost is all down to weight as they treat the coffin as cargo. I know not nice my dad was a slim man about 11 and a half stone cost the insurance company just under £6000. The real cost comes in if you take ill and require Medicare, taken home private airplane. I worked within the travel industry and have known people having to re-mortgage homes due to not having medical insurance and only having E111, it costs thousands. Good luck hope you find insurance and hopefully one day we might get back to some kind of normal.

I haven't read through the details.

If you are not resident, you are not entitled to a SIP. Some health centres would give them out to cover ongoing treatment , more for their own convenience than anything else, but they all now seem to be refusing to renew them.
Some specialist insurers will still cover you but any pre-existing...

... health conditions will impact the cover available. None of them will cover you for trip cancellation.
Hopefully none of this will be needed!

Hi

I have 28 yrs experience as a funeral director in the UK and I am due to come back to Spain to live however my advice is to make sure your NOK is aware of your wishes should you pass away and to be honest as long as you have the funds you can have a funeral in Spain

I feel that no matter were you are as long as you have a dignified final journey that is all that matters so my sons know to place me to rest in Novelda

Any family in UK can have a memorial service at home for you however that is just my opinion

I would not pay a funeral plan anything unless it stated it included repatriation of the body

This is just a vessel that carries us about and when our day comes it doesn’t matter what area we are placed to rest x

As far as I am aware UPS (UK) won't carry ashes,

It may be different in Spain . Lol
