Hi John

Thanks for the info.

I wouldn't walk the dogs anywhere that they weren't permitted but was just curious if there where beaches that they be walked on.

I'all be keeping myself right, as always, when it comes to where I walk my dogs.

Many thanks again and kind regards

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

I have absolutely no intention of walking my dogs on a beach where they are not permitted, that's why I asked the question.

Furthermore, in the 6 yrs I have had my beautiful dog, I have never, ever, failed to pick up after him and most definitely would not allow him to go on a beach, pathway or any other place that would be a nuisance to anyone.

I'm also a big beach fan and once again, there's no way I would enjoy a day on the beach if dogs were free to roam around and do as they please.

Rest assured no dog of mine will ever foul a public area, be it beach or road, and it be left unlifted.

New to the forum and in early stages of planning to move permanently to the area (hopefully Playa Flamenca / Villamartin) from Northern Ireland.

I have 2 small, house trained, well behaved dogs. A Tibetan Terrier cross and a Poodle cross, both rescued and much loved.

I've heard a lot about how dog friendly these areas are and that the dogs are allowed on a few beaches etc, however really just want to ask if it's all correct or is the 'dogs always welcome' slightly exaggerated?

Can't believe I'm asking this and I haven't even got MYSELF accommodation sorted yet...

many thanks, all info and advice will be very gratefully appreciated.

Interactive map of all dog beaches in spain plus other info. Very useful for me. I hope it helps.

Thanks Lizzy it's all in Spanish and I can't find an option to change to English. I'll be able to see which beaches and decipher some of the info though.

Thanks again

Kind regards

Hi Julie

You can click on the map and zoom in on your area to see where the dog beaches are and you don't need spanish for that function;)

No I don't, but I do if I want to read the other info you suggested. I'll get my translator app installed. Cheers

New to the forum, about to start our new adventure my husband and I are looking forward to a new life in Spain !. We have a ferry crossing booked for end October and can't wait. We have been all over the Costa blanca region for the last 5 years looking for the best area to live and we have finally decided that Playa Flamenca/La Zenia area is where we want to be. We have secured ourselves a house to rent for a short term in Villamartin which is lovely but we really prefer to be within walking distance of the sea. As we have a dog ( lovely well behaved spaniel) there's very limited choice  but once we're over there we hope to find a nice house/villa for long term let in or around Playa Flamenca. So if anyone knows of any dog friendly properties to rent in the area we would appreciate some help. My husband is a joiner by trade and I have been in retail but I enjoy housekeeping so would be looking for some kind of work along those lines. As we're both in our early 50's unfortunately not in a position to retire yet !! Any ideas/tips would be gratefully received, thanks. Looking forward to meeting new friends very soon. Karen

Hi Linda

Initially we were flying them over from Dublin airport through a forwarding company & Aer Lingus. However it's so expensive compared with getting them over by ferry & road.

We're getting the ferry from Belfast to Liverpool and then have a pet transporting company collect them from us and drive them to Spain. We'll fly from Liverpool.
