Hi

Is there a cat rescue service in the Orihuela Playa Flamenca area.

We are on holiday and I have been seeing a cat on a high roof for days now and it appears to be stuck. At first I thought maybe it could get up and down from the roof but it appears to be stuck.

It sleeps by one of the chimneys and it just cries out all the time when awake. It moves from edge to edge crying for very long times.

I approached one of the residents where I’m staying and asked about the cat as it’s quite distressing to see and hear it Dailey in distress and the lady just said it doesn’t belong to anyone, not a cat lover for sure.

I’m staying in the Calle di Bussi area and the roof the cat is on is a property all locked up. It’s heartbreaking when I see and hear its cries.

Is there anybody out there that can help please.

Thank you in advance

Jayne

Are you able to share it FB Groups locally and hopefully someone will come and help.

Or try Teléfono610 45 11 33, Finca La Castellana

Thank you for getting back to me. I’m afraid I don’t have Facebook but I could try the number you gave me.

Thank you

Hi,

I know how distressing this is so feel for you, and the cat. I know it comes under the Orihuela  Costa but if you call the Torrevieja municipal animal shelter on 670027853 (also on WhatsApp) from 9am tomorrow morning they should hopefully point you in the right direction.  Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Thank you so much for your help with this matter, I tried calling Finca La Castellana but they were closed so I’ve sent an email. My husband went to the property to see what number it is in case anyone gets back to me and the property is locked up and for sale.

I will indeed ring the number you have given me and appreciate your help very much. I really hope to see this poor cat rescued before I have to fly home. It’s wet and hungry and in a huge amount of distress.
maybe the rescue centre can call the number on the for sale sign and a key holder will let them onto the property.

I can’t go home without doing my best to save it.

Thank you so much

Jayne

I woke up early this morning worrying about this. Well done Jayne and husband. I would do the same if it was happening near me. The cat can't be allowed to suffer. Here are a few suggestions/observations:

Food and water (hopefully this vile rain we have all suffered has meant the cat had access to water) could be thrown up onto the roof. If it is too high, perhaps you could go to a nearby property and ask for access from their roof. Often rooves are continuous so access to one might even allow you to walk across to fetch the cat.

Check with more of the neighbours. One might have a spare key. If so, it would not be unethical to use it to rescue the cat, if the police won't help and the cat rescue professionals prove useless.

The police, however, will have a list of all the property owners and their contact numbers.

Do let us know what happens. I would be willing to donate a small sum if you contact me, if money becomes an issue.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for your very kind helpful reply.

After several attempts of reaching out to people with no luck in rescuing this poor cat I have woke up this morning with no sight of it.

I am hoping that it jumped on to a lower roof ( which is a fair old jump) and managed to get down.

I have spent hours looking out of our window looking over at the roof willing this cat to try just that.

Its been days of crying and hungry so maybe the final straw was to go for it.

It’s been impossible to get to with both houses either side up for sale and locked up or else my husband would have tried to get it.

It was settling behind a chimney during the bad weather and I’m sure it’s not there now.

It’s been horrid for us and the memory of this poor cat will always remain.

Thank you and to mad cat lady for at least trying your best to help.

Lovely caring people

Jayne

Hi All

Many sincere thanks for all your helpful messages about the cat on the roof.

I’ve not seen it today so far and I’m hoping that it managed to get down somehow.

It’s been up there for days and in some awful weather and normally when I get up in the morning it is there crying out.

The fact that i can’t see or hear it this morning, I am truly hoping for a good outcome for this little cat who I have called Ruth.

If I should see Ruth again I will continue with all the recommendations that you have suggested. I’m here until Saturday and won’t give up on this cat with all your help.

Thank you so very much.

Jayne
