Has anybody any recommendations for transferring sale proceeds from my house sale in Spain back to the UK?

Currencies Direct have been mentioned to me a few times and they have the benefit of having an office in Spain but when looking on the comparison sites there are better rates from other companies such as Atlantic Money but its all done via an app without any interaction with a human and that makes me a bit nervous as I have never heard of them.
If anybody has any personal experience for transferring money back with any companies and any issues you had it would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

I have transferred some large sums to and from Spain using Wise.com (formerly Transferwise) including house sale funds. They are totally reliable. Yes, a little daunting the first time you see money "floating away" but trust me it arrives almost immediately. If you have any doubts I would suggest setting up an account and doing a small test transaction to see how it feels.

Check with your Spanish Bank the maximum daily withdrawal amount. Many banks set this at €10k, you may have to ask your bank to increase it for that transaction.

We used Wise for our sale proceeds. It was all straightforward and quick. We left it in the euro account for a few weeks and waited for a more favourable rate before transferring to our sterling account

Did you get charged any fees to transfer to the sterling account? I tried to move money from Sabadell to my Starling euro account and there was a charge. I wanted to move it to my Starling sterling account but not been successful yet.

There was a conversion fee. If you look on the Wise website under the help section it states the current fees theres a calculator you can use .  We were charged  0.45% of the amount transferred from our Wise Euro account to our Wise GBP account 12 months ago.

I use Wise for transferring large amounts but that is usually Uk to Spain. They charge a fee but it is small and their exchange rate is usually the best around.

When sold last year I used Key Currency.....similar to currency direct.

The money went into Sabadell.....their account but for me.....if I'd paid straight into my Sabadell account they would have been a hefty charge.

Communication brilliant.....daily calls re conversion rate or you can set a rate for it to transfer automatically.

That’s really interesting and helpful. I’m determined to find a way around the Sabadell processes as I know it can be done!

When using either of these companies a representative will visit you and explain fully
