Using a mobile phone from England - Page 2

Hi  I got call from o2 as been here 2 years they were going to charge for Roaming. As yet they haven't I use WhatsApp for call when at home with wifi 

I would recommend that everyone gets WhatsApp if they can get WiFi.

Calls are free to other WhatsApp users.

We were with O2 also but due to increased data roaming charges as always in Spain we had to change to spanish phone

I am no phone expert, but reading between the lines it seems that there is a difference between those that have a contract and simple folks like me that just have Pay-and-Go.

It seems from what has been said, that those on a monthly contract seem to fall foul of a time abroad penalty and low users like me on Pay-and -Go are OK providing you top up every now and then. I think the period is six months, but don't quote me, check the tariffs on their website.

I have always been on pay-and-go and have been in Spain for several years without any problem.

If you need to talk a lot, get yourself onto WhatsApp (where you can do all sorts of lovely things) and put your O2 mobile onto pay-and-go, but still use it occasionally, or you WILL loose it.

I am old fashioned (emphasis on the old) and to me a phone is for talking. I can't do with all this texting. If you have something to say pick up the phone and talk to another human being. Quaint, old fashioned and a good deal more sociable.

Check out Lobster.es. They have reasonable plans, no contracts, very flexible and it is a phone service that can be used in Spain and the UK without restrictions. Run by brits for brits. I got a sim for my mum to use and she has had no problems with their service.
