Hi all am coming out in early march for the first time from Portsmouth to Santander allways flown before any tips for the crossing would be most helpfull ,coming on the lorry ferry on the way out is the food and drinks costly should we take anything with us thanks in advance Mike
We were pleasantly surprised that the food and drink prices were quite reasonable certainly cheaper than motorway services.
If you want to save then bring a cool box with food and drink with you, there are no restrictions on what you have in your cabin.

Biggest problem is boredom. Only have WiFi in the reading lounge so take books, puzzles etc. I didn’t realise on first trip and ran up internet bill. Free roaming doesn’t apply on board. Take snacks for cabin
Hi Mike
Doing same 1st trip via Santander late March. Read a recommendation to take travel kettle, a 3/4 outlet electric extension (kettle, charging phones etc) so definitely taking them.
Regards
Pauline.

If you are suggesting electrical goods then don't forget a travel adaptor unless you already know what type of electric sockets are onboard.

Its an excellent journey. Sockets are european. I would take a cooler with snacks, milk and drinks, travel kettle and a fan (cabin can get hot)
Food on board is good but a little costly. Pay in GBP not Euros but both are available. If you like sleeping stay in the cabin other wise take a tablet with movies or other stuff todo. Generally do not rely on an internet or phone connection if you do you will spend all the time trying to search it out and its generally crap.
Done the trip many times. (Pont Aven)
Upgrade to commodore class, costly but enjoy your mini-cruise!

Hi Mikehan. We have done this crossing several times. What we do is take on a cool box with 2 frozen bottles of water and one chilled. The frozen ones keep everything cold and once thawed we have chilled water to drink once off the ferry. I take wine, glasses, crisps, nuts, chocolate, biscuits, yogurts and any other snacks that you like. We also used to take a small camping kettle and tea bags, use a couple of cups and milk from the restaurants. Remember to take continental to English adapters. The boats French remember. Only use the WiFi in the bar or reading room, it’s really really expensive. Been caught out on our very first time with a £65 bill, so turn off data roaming. Also once on board you can ask for extra pillows and a extra towel, which unfortunately they are NOT the biggest. Plenty of reading material and a pack of cards. Reception have games you can borrow. Remember to take everything you need from the car, medication, chargers, overnight bag etc etc, as you can go back to the car, but only under supervision and a set time, otherwise car deck is lock while sailing. Earplugs if your a light sleeper, because if your on a deck that also has cars, you will find all the bloody idiots who don’t know how to turn off the alarms for their cars going off ALL night. Even tho they are told to turn them off on parking the car. That’s about it. Have a safe calm crossing 😎
