Can anyone let me have the link clarifying what should happen once returning to England and completion of 180 days. Do you have to then stay in England for 90 days or can you return to Europe straightaway starting the next 180 days? Is there a Government link clarifying this? Thanks

Thank you all for your response, I have seen this link and calculator my question for clarification is “How long do I have to be in England once I’ve completed the 90/ 180 days rule, how soon can I start the next allocation of 90/180 days”?

The simple answer to that is use the Schengen calculator.

Explanations on here tend to get a bit long winded as  due to the fact that everyone’s circumstances stances are different.

The 180-day period keeps rolling. Therefore, anytime you wish to enter the Schengen, you just have to count backwards the last 180 days, and see if you have been present in the Schengen for more than 90 days throughout that period.

Therefore to use the calculator: Enter the days you’ve been in the Schengen area during the last 180 days , which from today’s date is approximately April 9th 2020 it will then tell you have many days you have left out of your 90. Enter the date you want to return and  how long for and it will tell you if you go over your 90.

Honestly using the calculator Is the easiest way to do it.

If you’re still unsure post your dates  and we’ll work it out for you

Simply put, if you spend 90 days in Spain then you have to spend 90 days in the UK. 90 in Spain/ 90 in UK.

That's right if your plan were to simply spend 90 days straight in Spain or the EU, however............

Were you to be popping in and out for multiple short trips adding up to 90 days in the preceeding 180 then you would have leave and not reenter for 90 days in which case a full cycle could be thought of as 270 days long not just 180!

The Schengen calculator comes into it's own in those sort of circumstances.

Hi Evehinson,

No, the 180 days is not fixed, it´s a rolling period.  It´s also important to remember that the 90 days´ count starts as soon as you enter the Schengen travel zone, so if you were to fly into Spain and your flight lands at 23.55 that counts as day 1, even though you´ve only been in Spain for 5 minutes.  Similarly, if you have a late night flight and depart at, for example, 00:10, that counts as your last day, even though you´ve only remained in Spain for 10 minutes of the new day.  If you should drive to Spain via France, your 90 days´ countdown starts when you enter France.

Kind regards,

Kim
