Some time ago I was referred for a cataracts assessment at Torrevieja hospital.
Having heard nothing since then I am wondering what the time scale is likely to be at the moment? If anyone has had any recent experience I would be grateful to know

You could ask the reception at your local health centre, or pop by the hospital and ask. There is no set time for referral.

Cheers, J

The cataract assessments, if it hasn't been officially confirmed, are normally done at the CAP ophthalmic centre in Torrevieja first.  That's on C/Patricia Perez which is near the cathedral in town.

My wife was diagnosed by her optician and we took the note to our reception at the medical centre and she made an appointment at CAP. It came through about 2 or 3 weeks later and was confirmed then.

We didn't go to Torrevieja hospital until she had an appointment with the anaesthetist to give her the details of what would be required and issued the necessary eye drops.

That appointment was about a month after we'd been to CAP and then the operation, it was during the pandemic, was about 6 months later. All in all about 10 months after diagnosis but they did apologise for the delay due to the pandemic.

Hi

On numerous occasions one or the other of us has been referred to a consultant but then discovered that we don't actually get an appointment until we go to the lower floor reception at the hospital and ask! After asking, the appointment often comes through quite quickly.

Cheers

Steve
