Hi, we are a family with 2 children aged 11 and 9 Years and we are thinking seriously about moving to the area. We have been holidaying around this area for years and have been thinking about making the move as it feels like a second home. Moving to live and holidaying are very different we know as we have been to Australia before and lived for a few years. we want to make a decision pretty soon and we are visiting over Easter, looking at schools etc. We have so many questions about living in Spain which we hope to answer when over there but was wondering if there was anyone who has maybe moved in the last 2 Years who could offer any advise and knowledge about life over in Spain. As this would be a big move we want to make sure we are as well informed as we can be and the experiences of people living there good or bad would be invaluable to help our decision.

Thank you and most grateful for any advise and knowledge.

What peter says is good advice work is hard to come by and you work long hour for little reward  I would not move unless you have secured something and then have plenty of backup.

Good luck if you do make the move.

Hello there we moved to Playa Flamenca with our 5 year ld granddaughter ...a quad villa with 3 bedrooms but the corner houses have 4 bedrooms the reason I mention this is because our home is low maintenance...  We moved in last September we have a communal pool in the country it feel but 20 mins walk away from the la Zenia Boulevard.... so best of both worlds ...Am assuming work isn’t an issue so you will have to look at private healthcare and please look around as we did and still got duped for 3800 Euro.... As for schools depending if you want private or local there is a multi lingual just 5 mins from us .... We have never regretted moving here and we love it ... be prepared for lots of paperwork the Spanish love their paperwork stamped in triplicate lol

Anyway welcome to Spain

Les

Hi Pete and thank you for your reply. We do know about the colder periods in Winter. We also experienced the same in Australian winters. The houses are geared up for hot climates. My husband wanted me to ask if you know if there is any mains gas central heating in Spain or is it just mainly wood burners. thanks

Hi, yes the paperwork seems to be the main issue and its the one thing everyone warns about. We are looking into it all at the moment. cars too being more expensive. At the end of the day we want a better climate and a happy place for our kids to grow up. They will go to an International school because of their ages which we are looking at when we visit soon. If it all fits into place and they are happy we will make the move.

Thanks for all the advise

Hi There

I am keeping an eye on your replys as we to are in the early stages of moving over to Spain.

I am just asking if you have any information about how to apply to the schools , we have a 9 year old and 5 year old and want them to go to a Spanish school .

Do you know if you need a pardon/residenta to apply for schools .

Good luck with your move .

Jackie
