Is Playa Flamenca a safe region to live?
Hello a friend of mine is moving to the Playa Flamenca region. Can anyone tell me what it's like there with regards to safety.

Pickpockets, break-ins as bad as anywhere else. The worst from last few weeks - four men in stolen car robbed some people in couple of places. I was attacked in a corridor of block of flats in a gated community. Personally I think that Playa Flamenca lost the last bits of charm.

Hi
I've lived in the general area for 11 years, and PF specifically for the last 4 years.
I've never known any crime problems, although they undoubtedly exist - just like any where else in the world. There is a huge shopping centre nearby and a big market on Saturdays, so of course you need to be aware of pickpockets in such places - same as anywhere else.
I do of course sympathise with Ann212, but in my experience such incidents are rare.
Cheers
Steve

Thank you Steve that is good to know. My friend will be encouraged by that since she's just purchased a home in this region.

Hi Ann
Can you elaborate where the four men in the stolen car robbed some people in couple of places, and what gated community where you attacked in? Did you report this to the police and notify the president and/or other owners within the gated community?

4 houses in our urbanisation had their storage boxes broken into and we were told that garden furniture has been stolen. They are keeping the communal gates locked now. Bit disappointed to find this out as just bought a place.

Hi
We've lived in PF for over 4 years, no problems, and we have plenty of friends nearby - no issues.
The only person to tell me about burglaries was a bloke trying to sell burglar alarms who was very keen to look around my house identifying weak spots - which I took to mean "casing the joint" and told him to retreat and fornicate! I still want to know how he got in through the security gates!
On one occasion, we got home in the early hours to discover our lock was broken (it had been iffy for some time though). We tried to break in to our own house, and within 30 minutes the police showed up, unofficial neighborhood watch! Most reassuring!
Cheers
Steve
