Have got it now. When u arrive back in Spain you count back 180 days and work out how many days u have spent here. The balance of 90 days is the amount of time u can stay legally on that particular visit.

Glad you got it.

It’s quite easy. From the date you want to enter/leave Spain count back 180 days. Within that period you can only stay 90 days including the new visit

Google Schengen calculator, you put in all the dates you have been in the zone and it tells you how many days you have left and you can input future travel dates and it will tell you how many days you can return for, it's easy to use and understand, so many people don't understand the rolling days ( I understand it but have difficulty in explaining it

I am aware of the Agreement and Calculator but what it doesn’t state clearly is when we can return??

You have to put all your previous visits in the calendar and it will automatically show you how many days you have left. Next put your next potential dates into the calendar and it will tell you whether or not you have enough days left to cover that holiday. If not, just put dates in for a few weeks later. It took us a couple of hours to understand, but once you get it, it’s easy to follow! Good luck.

Just to say there may be a fly in the ointment  if you drive through  France into Spain

Count from the day you enter the Schengen area to the day you leave it, not just your time in Spain.

I know that ,but if you drive over which we.did in May ,there may be ways of getting around the 90/180 day rule

Just to add I dont know why they dont say 90 days from Jan1 to 30 June ,and 90 days from 1 July to 31 Dec ,too simple I suppose ,why make it easy for people when you can confuse them and prove your superiority
