When I spoke about locals, I didn’t just refer to Spanish people, but anyone living and working in the area.

My builder also had personal problems which caused serious delays and problems as he wasn’t around to supervise, the actual workers rushed to finish the job with little attention which had resulted in me having serious issues with the building....

...

I thought we had come to an agreement about putting things right but again, he has personal problems so all work is cancelled. I am left to foot the bill to get others in to try and repair some of the damage. The only reason I haven’t named and shamed him is that he always promises to resolve the situation but in practice, it just costs me more money and delays in me living comfortably in my own house without water pouring down the walls!

I live in hope.

I’m not shaming.

Im Posting a warning so the Lost of ripped off locals who have decided to buy and build in Sax downer get longer from people like JOSE VIVES.  We all have shot in Our lives … just like what you and I posted.l, but we don’t steal to make it better.

I also have given him chance to START the work he was paid for as of today or return a portion of the stolen funds… as o try to be fair, even to those who have wronged me and MANY others locally, but I know my money is gone.  Hope he will leave the area and never come back.

Actually, given all the apparently unfortunate experiences , for which, although I do not dispute anyone’s perception of their personal difficulties, we only have one side of the events, it would be interesting and informative to hear from the opposing protagonists. It is never right to condemn people on hearsay without a chance to defend themselves.

That’s good, because he won’t start it or complete it.  ;)

Yes, it would be even better if the builders or trades would speak to us and give us a reasonable resolution of the situations they have caused. I have been more than helpful and compromising with my builder & his merry men, but the end result is that I still have water running down outside & inside walls. I have always paid upfront for material and the rest upon request.

Hearing their side of the story seems superfluous to me given that they do not even get back to us, neither have we received a letter from their lawyers for non payment.

I understand your bitterness, Janice, and the disappointment at apparent non results. I simply don’t believe that there is only one side to any set of circumstances.

There is never any justification for blatant theft. Not sure why this is a debate. It’s a thread about a guy who has stolen my money and others.  Yes he has ongoing family issues… but he did work for me after that. This was pure theft of money.   This thread to to warn people NOT to give any money / deposits to this clown.

I am not in the habit of telling lies or not admitting to faults or mistakes of my own. Unfortunately, in my case, we have a situation of a young man not achieving what he set out to do. Too ambitious, perhaps. I feel that he has stolen money from me as I have a signed contract for a job and nowhere does it say that I will have water running down interior walls.  The fact that I haven’t gone ahead with legal proceedings is purely because I wanted to give him a chance to put the issues right. Plans were drawn up to do this but ‘personal matters’ cropped up again.

A year on and I am getting other professionals in. Anyone who thinks that I am the cause of the bodged or unfinished work in my house (2 sides to every story) should contact the people in question and, as in Jigsaw’s case, see whether they even bother to answer their phones or e-mails. Or come and inspect the work done and see if they would have accepted it. Sometimes the person who is totally out of pocket and living the whole disadvantage might just be the innocent victim. Easy to judge if it hasn’t happened to you.

That is very unfortunate and I am sorry for your situation. However, again, that is not a reason to condemn an entire country, legal framework, tradespeople or, indeed, the entire legal profession, however much one may sympathise with your personal position.

Even the King of Spain was on the scam, the mayor of Orihuela Costa has been charged with embezzlement.

The owner of the company that was faking padrons to back date residency applications, which he has admitted doing has just been made a mayor, you could not make it up.

There is another person who has actually served 5 years in prison over some scam regarding contracts, he also purchased a property for €180,000 which he sold for 5 million euros a few months later,  there's a word for that.
