Try Lezsonias, I think that's how it is spelt. They have a good reputation and are just the other side of Salinas a few miles from Sax.

I went to a quiz in La Romana last year and it was a regular event organised by a group of Brits looking after stray dogs, the pub was the Market Tavern, it might be a good place to start.

You could try the café and charity shop in Pinoso. They raise funds for dogs and cats. Hovar in the Hondon valley too, they do loads of work with dogs, they have a shop, foster out animals, do fundraising, etc. Contact Colin on their website. Both places would need the use of a car as they are at least 20 miles away.

Hi you should try Barneys dog rescue at Canada del Trigo, Violet and Terry run it and are lovely. Google the website. Also in Pinoso thedogyouneed.com would probably be grateful for dog walkers. Google them.

If not rescue a couple of dogs there are thousands needing a home. Spanish Galgos are fab, make lovely pets and have been dreadfully abused.

Good luck, Jan.

Hi, We have bought a property in Monovar, which is fairly close to Sax - there do not seem to be any ex-pats there - unlike Sax - which has more of a buzz.  Good to know about the Monday market in Sax.  Anyone have any info on any night life in Monovar and if any ex pats are there?

Hi Helen, we recently bought in Monovar  (just outside off the road to Pinoso) and thought there weren't many Brits too although we love the area and obviously the house. We are moving out permanently at the end of this month and would be good to meet a few people in the same position and area..........John & Jackie

There are quite a lot of ex pats in Sax and surrounding areas. You will meet a good few in Victorias or El Quijote in Sax. the nearest thing I have found to an English style pub is an Irish theme bar in Elda.

regards,

Adrian.

Hi Adrian,

We will be in Monovar at the end of March which is just a short drive from Elda - the Irish bar sounds interesting - would be grateful if you could tell us the name and where in Elda it is.  We used an Estate Agent in Elda so are fairly familiar with it.

Regards, Helen
