And more stupidity on "Lockdown"

News report,

"DESPITE the State of Alarm being in place, an exodus from Madrid saw motorways jammed with traffic as residents from Madrid, the worst affected coronavirus area in Spain, head to the Costa Blanca/ Costa Sol, coast and their second homes on the coast for Easter.

Whilst police attempted road blocks anticipating a surge, it didn’t seem to deter as hundreds of cars jammed roads for the journey." An more reason to stay in over Easter!.

See page 21 link for report & photos. on:

Just an idea

Hi Villas,

My understanding from reading various Spanish news sources were that the huge traffic jams ensued because the Madrid police forces anticipated that cretins both rich and poorer would attempt to descend to the costas on holy week and successfully stopped many with strategically placed road blocks around Madrid.?

Alot of people plans were thwarted and they were turned backed and quite rightly so.  Just don't know how successful in reality this was ? The other thing I don't understand is if these people wanted to celebrate holy week and consider themselves anything close to being devout Catholics-  why are they deliberately risking more people's lives and the continued closure of all churches in light of the thousands of innocent souls who have died and many of whom , under normal circumstances,  would have lived.  This abherent behaviour goes against anything vaguely resembling Christian virtue and Grace 😠😠😠

I remain in despair for my fellow man,

Tomorrow is another day.

😔🙏

On Spanish news programme  last night (discussion) they were talking about the balance of hope (for the public) comparing with the length of sensible withdrawal of the easing of restrictions. (I hope not too quickly).

El Pais reflects your report of RTVE.

I know hes an idiot , but you condone  assault by the police on members of the public ..????

Exactly. Policing by consent is (or before Covid used to) be the way in the UK but not it seems in Spain. When you have a person detained you don't hit him because you lose it - especially when you are armed with a 9mm  !!  That's just cowardly and does nothing for police-public relations.

RayD you are exaggerating slightly. They attended 494 house parties and 166 street gatherings. "Police said SOME (my emphasis) of the house parties even had bouncy castles, DJs and fireworks". There were 122 groups gathering for sporting activities and 173 gatherings in parks. Those 122 sporting activities could be cyclists or two or three having a kick about. Those in the parks could be two people sunbathing.

Someone needs to remind them Franco has been out of power since 1975 and times have moved on, inc. human rights. Being in the EU does not just mean taking cash from the north EU states and carrying on like you are Mexico or any other 3rd world hole. You, as a nation, evolve and respect the aims of the EU and the ECHR. Or exit and become a 3rd world country again. Spain has a choice now.

RayD. the link you have given repeats the figures I have supplied. It does not suggest that they attended 1,100 private parties and events. It says they attended 494 private parties and other gatherings. As I've said a slight exaggeration.

SECURITY in Alicante has been increased after over 2,000 cars had been intercepted.

Main roads in and out of the city have had more troops deployed, as citizens inland attempt to travel to second homes for Easter on or near the coast.

Care4 anybody that is flouting the very clear restrictions whether it be 1 or a 1000 are cretins and a menace to society that is being crippled by a killer novel virus that is changing our world as we speak ok 😠  These are not normal circumstances but unprecedented ones and we must all adapt  appropriately or DIE in some cases if you do not. Simple As.😯

Self isolation and social distancing are all we have currently to contain a plague that nobody has seen for 100 years.  Unless you know more than the best scientists who are fighting on our behalf to free us from this pandemic I suggest you stop trying to condone these cretins reckless behaviours in conducting any types of social gatherings at this time and do your civic duty to remind these idiots who flout the restrictions to STAY AT HOME PERIOD!

For all our sakes so that a new life after this terrible affliction can start again in earnest.

We have all made sacrifices and NOBODY is exempt. Simple 😤😤😤

If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

Clear your mind and your arse might follow 😂😂😡

A conservative judge in Madrid has opened an investigation into the government’s authorization of the 8th March International Women’s Day march in Madrid as well as other mass marches and sporting events, following an allegation that the government acted irresponsibly in authorizing the events because it already knew the extent of the spread of coronavirus in Spain.

I THINK THIS KILLED MORE THAN A FEW HOUSE PARTIES

Both BoJo and Trump should be investigated. But as I sit here in Spain it is because of Sanchez's bad decisions - not Trump/BoJo's so you may excuse me for focusing on my current situation and it's origin (in Spain).
