I had the sense you are British, perhaps I am wrong.
Lets see how the economy works out for those who don't want Brits on their sand
Yes I'm British and I used to be proud of it but not any more.

On the UK's ITV news yesterday evening, it was reported that there were 3 times as many people on UK beaches this past weekend, as there had been for the May Day bank holiday, delayed to 8 May to coincide with VE Day. Both weekends saw lovely weather, so why would so many more go to the beach when the UK has the highest Covid-19 death rate in Europe and a New Infections rate still in the thousands? Could it be called the "Cummings Effect"?
Sadly, for the many Brits who have heeded the rules, they may be denied holidays and visits to their property in Spain this summer because of the defiance of others. I don't condone the behaviour, but I do understand from where it has emanated.
Kind regards,
Kim

Economy has taken a back seat to health. I personally hope the government here in Spain maintain a strong stance in this regard. I know what is more important to me.

A few responses and it is nice to see differing opinions.
In all society, there will be pockets of idiots and those who care nothing for others.
As for not feeling proud to be British, just wondering what passport you hold or has that been relinquished?
As for more Brits being out, I appreciate that DC has likely had some effect but probably more to do with the daily stats that show everything 'appears' (he says, tongue in cheek because I believe the stats are flawed) to be moving in the right direction. Remember, in the UK, going to the beach IS allowed. The latest relaxations allow people in your own garden. I myself visited a beach this weekend and was more than 2m away from others. There were however a group of 6 adults, clearly from differing households, having a BBQ together. YES, they broke the rules and NO I did not feel the need to judge them, berate them or report them.
As for the economy, every nation has taken a battering, the extent of which will not be known until the doors which are allowed to open simply do not open anymore. It will be interesting to see how 'bothered' people really are when the services they previously took for granted are no longer available.
Perhaps the Brits will revert to type and simply moan?

And people wonder why other countries don't want Brit holiday makers on their soil.
So where is this picture from and where is your proof it's in the UK. Do not and I repeat do no condon everyone with the same brush. Many thousands of people have lived by the strict lockdown rules here in the UK. You are not here, you listen to the media and then make useless comments. Many people are struggling here and yes of course people are flounting rules as are others in different countries across the world. If your ashamed to be British perhaps you should give up your UK Passport and be done with the UK in its entirety.
Bore Off.
What do you have to say about that then!!!!

Hi Kim,
the reason more people went to the beach, and other areas, this weekend is most likely because the government indicated a easing of lockdown restrictions. Though this was meant to start from yesterday I believe most people jumped the gun and started at the weekend. The message is quite clear from the government that social distancing should be followed, groups or no more than 6, from no more than 2 households, etc, etc but unfortunately there are always those that ignore or bend the rules. I would also think there are a percentage of people who would say the Dominic Cummings saga has made them decide to not follow the government guidelines, which is a pretty stupid attitude but understandable.
When you say the UK has the highest death rate in Europe which figures are you comparing? I usually look at https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries which is updated daily with figures issued by the various governments. That does not show the UK as the highest death rate so you must be looking at other stats?
Rgds,
Aitch.

Just a small point, the UK still has less cases and deaths per million of population than Spain.
