Well folks, I’v been out today for the first time since the Spanish declaration. Más y Más San Miguel Closed so I went to to nearby shop that incorporates a restaurant. Obviously the restaurant was closed but I have to say, in Mas y Mas, my chicken and meat supply for a week normally comes to about 20€. My bill in this alternative shop was 31€. I then went to another supermarket on the main street in San Miguel where My bill came to 71€, normally 25/30€. I haven’t stocked up so I’m wondering, are we in a state of extreme inflation or are some shop owners profiteering?

Yes, apparently it is Father’s Day here in Spain. That of course doesn’t mean shop owners should start to inflate prices. And by the way French martini, perhaps you should come to San Miguel. Shops here are open. See attached and look at the date and time!!!.....

Plus in addition to what I have already written. I am not a source of fake news and I suggest. French martini, you check your facts before posting your possibly defamatory replies

Not all outlets close totally on Fiesta Days .. depends on their 'Management' - when open it is generally 0900 to 1400
In 'normal circumstances' we can expect to see
on the RED
days – which are National Bank/Public Holidays all Public Buildings and
Offices; Banks, Insurance companies, Utility businesses, Legal Agencies, Post
Offices and Medical Centres, etc. etc. being CLOSED throughout Spain.
Under normal circumstances if a public holiday falls on a Thursday or Tuesday, it is often the practice to
"make the bridge" (hacer puente) by taking the Friday or Monday off
so creating a very long weekend, or, if a Fiesta falls on a
weekend, to take alternative days in lieu!

I personally didn´t see it."possibly defamatory".
I too have local shops in the town "out of" normal trading days & always their prices are higher than those open with competition. Seems normal. You bought it.
Enjoy.

pass it on . "CLAP AT 8"
Villas.
Rather unfortunate phrase " pass it on clap at 8" in the UK clap is a slang word for a sexually transmitted disease! Safer to say applause. 🙂
