From my experience that all charge fees. It isn't the same as in the UK, so you are right to ask. I'm on the Costa Blanca so your bank will probably be different to mine..

I don’t think you need a Wise account if you have an Irish euro account, i think that suggestion was only made because we thought you were British with a UK sterling bank account that needed transferring into euros (Wise are good for these type of transfers). You will already have euro IBAN wit...

...h your Irish account and can pay from that directly to spanish utilities/solicitors.

Brilliant. Thanks you've all been so helpful.

Hi everyone

My husband and I are buying in Playa Flamenca and are coming over next month for 11 nights.  I would like to be around Calle Niagara or near it as its the area we are buying in .  I have got great tips from this forum for a lot of things.  Firstly if someone has a property or knows...

... of one that we could rent that would be fantastic.  Need satelite Tv and Wifi. I know people who have properties in the Orihuela costa  and have researched everything for the past year.  We are very excited and hope to start our frequent holidays very soon.

Our solicitor will be opening our bank account when NIE comes through and looking after the transfer of utilites etc.  We will use a transfer company to pay for the property but in the meantime I would like to know which bank would be the best option for non residents.  I have read on here about extortinate fees some are charging.

Looking forward to making new friends and a new life after retirement.  Many thanks.

Hi

Am 5y and thinking if retiring soon to Spain has anyone any feedback on how it's gone for them

I paid my lawyers into their client holding account from my currencies direct account. They then transferred to the vendor.

Hi was that a online account. I'm going to check what my bank in Ireland will charge to transfer the sale money. Then I'll check about direct debits for utilities. Thanks

Currencies Direct

I used them in preference to Wise as they had an office round the corner from my lawyer if there were any issues - which there weren't

Hi I checked with my bank here in Ireland and they only charge couple euros if even to do the transfer once I have the Bic and Ban..same with utilities in Spain. Will speak to spanish lawyer and explain that I don't want to use a spanish account.. This would be a lot easier for me if I can organise it . Thanks for your help..

Welcome, glad to see another Irish person joining the Irish section of this forum. We have a 2 bedroom quad villa in Residencia Iria 1, on Calle Niagara and it is a great location. We rent out our house through an agent,  if you are interested I can check availability for September for you. We love to spend the worst of the winter months over there, it's lovely eating outside in December and January, something we can't do here in Wexford. Best of luck with your search. Zdenek
