The rule was there before for the UK but the Spanish police did not enforce it because we were still in the EU, but now we are out it applies more for people and cars. Very soon you will not see so many British reg cars after March. It's very sad for the UK who have holiday homes and who have liv...

The Spanish authorities would not enforce the 90 day rule on any EU citizen unless they committed an offence, it provided a simple and quick solution for removing undesirables, the same solution was available to the UK government, as we're no longer members it's a freedom we've given up.

There are various apps for mobiles which will calculate your time in the Schengen zone. If you travel to Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Romania this will not count as time in the Schengen area

Entry into and out of Schengen will be monitored. They will know when you entered France and when you exited Spain.

Hello

Until the end of March we don't know exactly how the authorities will apply this - -only that it will be applied.

The date that you enter the Schengen area ( e.g.France) would be registered/entered /recorded to your passport details and that would be Day One of your 90days, so when you show your passport at the airport to leave, it would be obvious whether you had been in the Schenghen zone for   90days or had overstayed.

Cheers

Who can tell but I expect them to be pretty strict. A computerised system can easily keep tabs on passports going in and out of Schengen.

Not sure its up to the Spanish Govt to make unilateral changes as it is a Schengen rule.

You could take a risk but if you get caught the penalties can be severe.

Once we have our TIEs I wonder how this will affect us travelling in the rest of Europe, I like to visit Germany several times a year and I have family in Denmark, I know our TIEs mean we can stay here but will they mean anything to the rest of Europe?
