Hi Jo

I made the move from UK to Alicante just under a month ago and I don't regret it one bit.  I've been to Elche and it's a really nice city, well located too, was my 2nd choice after Alicante.

NHS in UK is slowly falling apart and the quality of life here in Spain is a lot better.

If you would like any help with anything, I would be happy to assist, I speak fluent Spanish.

I'm not too far from Elche, so we could meet there one day during your trip.

Regards

Carl

Hello

God sent you. Was sitting here feeling like wilted lettuce and your words worked like a charm. Any advice or suggestions are very much welcome. Am leaving for Spain tomorrow and it is a bit like walking in unknown territoriale. Why did you ont for Alicante? I do like both cities and have no idea where there are more english speaking people

Sold my flat in Denia. Handing over Keys on the April 19 and have not even rented à place yet because am torn between alicante and elche

Denia is empty in winter and that I need to avoid

If you can suggest locations to buy would be very grateful

There are mane barrio and since the really expensive ones are not an option I would like your opinion. What would you do if you had to start again from Scratch? Thank you for getting in touch. Tomorrow airport flight etcetera. Looking forward to your advice

 Thanks!

It is not as easy to move to Spain nowaays as it used to be.

Here are a couple of websites that may be of assistance:

Citizens Advice Bureau Spain for bureaucratic stuff but bear in mind that each ayuntamiernto (town hall) usually has their own rules and regulations.

N332 for anything to do with driving in Spain.   The website, and their Facebook page, is for English speaking people and is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil.   On the website their is an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code.

A couple of  thoughts:   Away from the coast public transport is virtually non-existent but property is usually much cheaper so your own vehicle may be necessary.

Morning

I opted for Alicante because I know a few people here, Elche was more affordable though, I would say about 20k less.  Maybe avoid Carrius in Elche which is not as nice as the rest of Elche.

In Alicante you would probably not find anything for under 80K in a decent area, prices have gone up steadily for the last 2 years.

If you had a flat in Denia at least you're not totally walking into the unknown. I can definitely point you in the direction of estate agents here in Alicante if you're interested in looking here,  let me know.

Have a great flight.

Told you you were a Godsent. Yes please point me in the direction of people who would show 3bed 2bath flats in Alicante In Denia I had a castle view and a sea view that cannot be bettered but at least I shall not be in a den of thieves. Also if you would recommend an english speaking lawyer that would be super. Shall need one and you have no vested interest. If you know none it is all right, someone in Denia can help me with that or the embassy if they answer the phone. Wish you a great day and am off.

Also found two nice ones in Torrevieja yet was told not to buy in that area? Looks nice on google, yet have not been there. Can get a garage in that area, though am not sure I want one. Still can rent it out and it would cover the community. As you can see I have become rather mercenary, must needs.
