Don't suppose it's anything to do with it being a general election year. The Conservative party no doubt are looking to increase votes from expats.
Well, here's at least one they won't be getting.

"what good did that do?" Well I'm sorry to pop your bubble, but just because you vote one way, doesn't mean that will be the final result. It's called democracy.

Seemingly the actual right is restored as of today but the form for applications to go on the register was released ahead of that.
I put mine in on the 12th. and received a confirmation that it was being forwarded to the relevant local authority (last UK address) yesterday.

Who, if anyone, I vote for is another question entirely!

As an Englishman, I will therefore have to vote in East Kilbride (Glasgow). That will annoy my SNP missus, och aye!
Cheers

Is a conservative government of benefit to ‘UK expats’ and does it apply whatever country they live in?

"democracy" ( as you quote) refers to The "whole" of the population, irrelevant of where they may reside. ( Human rights etc....) This original post is concerned with those who were actually disfranchised. V

And your point is? Where did I say democracy did not apply to the whole population? Try reading it again. Slowly. Then you'll see I was saying that just because you vote for something, doesn't mean you'll get it.

.....and feeling "disenfranchised" is all part of life. Like I said (twice now), not everything goes the way you want it to.

And then they have to listen to the self righteous.
Maybe you can clarify something. If you left the country and are now resident in Spain, should you not now be paying Spanish taxes - not UK taxes, and should your healthcare not now fall under the Spanish Health Care system?
I am of course assuming that you are classed as resident in Spain since you say you have left the UK.
