Been searching the site for an answer but unable to find one. Nearby in the community one property with own swimming pool has been abandoned and the mosquitoes are taking over.

Pool men suggest 1 liter of diesel poured on top of the water to suffocate them.

I understand the council were informed last week but nothing has happened. How does one gain legal entry to squish the biters?

Thanks

Insted of diesel oil using sunflower oil is more enviroment friendly. The council will most probably do nothing.

Villas is correct!  Just lob some chlorine tablets into the pool and the problem is solved!

"Mosquitoes. ... Most sanitation products like chlorine will not kill your nemesis the mosquito but it will inhibit larvae growth".  But as there is no electricity the filter -skimmer doesn't work so we think the vegetable oil solution will be best

Thanks all for the replies

Just playing devils advocate, is it ok to go throwing some form of contaminant in someones pool whilst they're away?

 I'd be delighted!!!

Andrew

How long are they away for if it is abandoned? As the original question stated and do the neighbours on a 100 meter radius worry if something positively done about it. Or just leave it fester! Devils advocate!
